I don't know too much about a gps I have never used one before. I am assuming that one can be used with the topo maps and be a good help with navigating through the pines. Where is a good place to get one, are they fairly easy to use??? What type or kind is recommended and about how much do they go for????

Thanks

Jello

They come in all prices starting around $100. There basically are two companies that make the popular ones.

Garmin is one of them.

Here is their eTrex line. The yellow eTrex is the cheapest but does not have maps.

The rest of their products are here.

Magellan is the other company.

They are easy to use, and once you own one you will wonder how you explored without it.

I have a Garman eTrex Legend and i love it, can`t beat eveything it will do for $136.00.... I`m not sure but i was told none of the models below the Legend will store maps from MapSource. I`v got all of NJ, Delaware, Eastern PA and Maryland down to Washington DC stored in mine.

I have the basic yellow Garmin etrex, goes for about $100.00
I really enjoy using it since it is small and rugged it is very practical. Seemed like the other models requited you to purchase extra map software to be useful. And I never liked the idea of squinting at the small map screens on the fancier models. I like to open a full sized map.

I'm still getting used to my Legend; the basic map is pre-loaded & scaleable. I'm happy.
