All,
We headed out this morning with two goals in mind, one to find a foundation in Lebanon Forest that I have been meaning to search for, and to find a southern pitcher plant that is not found in many places in the pines. They actually do not grow normally in NJ, and have been introduced as BobM and others have mentioned before.
The foundation we did not spend much time looking for, but the pitcher plant we acquired a few photo's of.

In the same swamp we saw this.

We then took a ride through Lebanon, and I noticed that since the last time I was at one of the gaging stations it has gone high tech. There is a small propane building now next to it, with a line running into station, a new antenna for communicating with it, and solar panels attached to a tree above it.

From there we headed into Chatsworth and I did a quick survey of some locations I need to get GPS coordinates for the USGS. From there we headed home.

that usgs station you photo'd is very near to a "secret spot". its the site of an ongoing rutgers experiment invlolving cedar swamp succession and the perfect sphagnum bog. its pretty cool.

It may not be such a "secret spot". And if this is not it, there is another "secret spot" near there.

Ben took me there and he knew what was going on there. I can't exactly remember.

I haven't been there in a couple years, but not too far from that gaging station there used to be a little clearing in the woods with a small building that has a transmitter and other stuff. I remember wondering what it was and why it was hidden.

I was at a clearing yesterday near there, and it had been recently bulldozed, and there were remnants of a cement building off to the edge of the clearing. It was bring used by dirt bikes when we arrived.

You can see where the building I assume was located here

It looks like a party area! The problem with it is that there is no back way out when and if you needed it in an emergency :)
But in that area is the "wall in the woods" which I semi looked for yesterday. In the fall I will spend more time there looking if it was not the building that was there, which seems unlikely now.
