I voted for the 5th. My wife's birthday is on the weekend of the 12th.

I voted for the 5th because I want Steve to be able to be there. With that said, I will try to make the other dates if the 5th is not chosen. I may not make the Sundays.

I wonder who the mystery voter is. 6 votes and 5 replies.
I am good for the 5th also. Not the 6th though.

Marianne expects me to spend time with her on weekends. Maybe she'll want to come, what's the agenda?

I am sure we will be doing some bushwacking, we always do. It is hard to explore and not. Maybe it will be minor, but I always expect it not to be.
At least that is my take on it.

Women.
Ok - looks like Sunday the 13th is the popular day.
Can people make it for that day?
Who's allowed to go on this trip? Anyone from the board?

Everybody is welcome.
One other thing. Since we will most likely be visiting sensitive ruins, anybody who places a Geocache/Letterbox where we have been will be banned from the site.
Sorry, but I don't want a million people tromping around these ruins.
There are already caches at Washington and Harrisville, away from the ruins. As far as I know none are at Martha.

I know that. Those caches are in areas that can handle the foot traffic. Basically, we're going to be way off the beaten trail at Harrisville (or at least I like to think so.) We're going to (hopefully) find some ruins that are extremely hard to locate. I don't want us going to some hard to find cellar hole and then someone end up putting a cache there. Then more people will come, the more chance that a souvineer collectors will come, beat down paths to all of these interesting places, etc. Considering the abysmal job the state has done in protecting Harrisville thusfar, I don't want to contribute to ruining these places any more.
I don't have a problem with Geocaching, I just have a problem with increasing the amount of foot traffic to these places. There is one place in particular that some members of my site discovered, and now there's a cache there that really should NEVER have been put there.

I gotta vote for March 12 (Saturday). The kids will be away that weekend and it's the start of 'spring break' from college...ah, conversation with other adults--what a treat!

All,
The weekend of 3/12 3/13 for this explore is not working out for Guy and myself. Weather permitting, we are planning a hike/explore of the Washington area on Saturday 3/5. We need to get in shape for an upcoming 10 to 12 mile bushwhack that a mad man....er....a....fellow member is planning.
I have not planned a route yet but the plan is to put in maybe 7 to 8 miles of hiking on dirt roads or trails and explore the area around Washington. Anyone who's schedule is in conflict with the weekend of the 12th is welcome to come along as long as you don't mind a long hike.

I go to the pines every Saturday and try to stay home on Sundays to be with the family, so I will have to pass.

No, no, no, the weekend of the 12th is still on as far as I know. It looks like the popular choice of day is Sunday the 13th.
It is just that Guy and I cannot make it on that date.
How about the 19th? Is this time enough to give everyone a chance to plan in advance and let the snow melt?
I can't do it this weekend, and I don't want to have it happen on the same day as a hike that was planned far in advance.

I am a no-go for the 19th. Going to a wild game feast in the pines.
13th is still good.
I prefer Saturdays too, like Guy but the 13th is okay.

Ben and All,
I am going to back out on attending for various reason which I will explain.
First off, most of the time I can't make Sundays. This will allow you to plan on a Sunday and not have to have me posting saying I can't make it. I have so much going on for Saturdays that I am getting behind in what I need and want to do before the vegetation starts growing and makes it tough on me.
I have some exploring I need to do at Speedwell, along the JCRR, and I just was awarded the Brookville Quad which means quite a bit of driving for me in future Saturdays. And with the warmer weather coming I am hoping to hook up with Bob to do some plant searching and photographing since I feel that it is about time that I get to know the plants I step on all the time in the pines. Over 30 years of exploring in the pines and up until last year I knew the cranberry! I also have postponed twice a hike with a man I work with, and I have to explain all this time spent in the pines to my wife. I also have to prepare for as Steve mentioned a major hike in the coming months.
So my time in this weather is limited, and I have much to do before it is lost until the fall. I need the coming weeks for other endeavors.
Guy
