does anyone know how far above hampton furnace is the Batsto passable for canoes?
The PBX crew did a trek called "Begin the Batsto". We started from the top of the old bogs by the boot camp and hiked upstream until the Batsto ran out of water. If I recall it gets tough before you get to Carranza Road cause of the beaver dams.

I was thinking of putting in on the bog at a place we always called the cranberry wash.
Sounds like it is downstream from where we started going upstream.

Just this weekend I paddeled from Hampton Furnace. I frequently paddle the Skit Branch, starting at the sharp turn on Carranza Road, by the boot camp. Upstream from there it's beaver ponds.

I dance the java too, but not by any script. I just wing it. Start flinging my arms out in every which direction.

The water levels on the Batsto from Hampton Furnace are always good. It's a very deep basin. Right now the Skit would be too shallow in spots, wait for some rain. Also, the boot camp put in a foot bridge over the Skit, a felled cedar tree with 2x somethings screwed to it.
