I'm still prepping for the Batona trail backpacking trip, but in the meantime I'm doing some mountain biking. I have read that Batona is off limits to mountain bikers. Does anyone know where the mountain biking locations are?

Well I suppose anywhere in one of the state forests would be a possibility, but if you want a place that specifically has mountain bike trails, check out Estell Manor Park: http://www.aclink.org/PARKS/mainpages/estell.asp

allaire has nice trails, only problem with mountain biking in the pines is you end up pushing your bike through a lot of unrideable sugar sand. double trouble has some nice trails if you get away from the village and get out towrds the power lines. a lot of fire cuts that are rideable with very little sugar sand.

There is a mountain bike trail that was laid out about 2 years ago that starts / ends at Atsion. The markers loook like this:

It follows more heavily traveled roads so there won't be quite as much sand.

There are many other trails that start at Atsion, ask someone at the desk. There is currently one under construction that follows the RR tracks and a just reciently planked RR bridge over the Batsto river just for that purpose. That trail is marked with white discs.
