    Sweetwater Run

I got a depressing shock yesterday. I lived in Bamber 38 years, and near the end of Webb's Mill Road where it meets 539, is undoubtably one of the prettiest, cleanest little stream in the pines. I always called it Sweetwater Run. I started noticing groups of people congregating near it drinking...

    Demolition Derby

I saw a couple in my day (Englishtown if I recall). I was reminded of that when I had to travel to St. David's Pa to pick up a gaming laptop for my Grandson today. I was first shocked to find out that tolls from my house were about $28. Anyway, I had to get off the PA turnpike and onto 476...

    No-see-ums

I simply cannot walk on a lawn at all if I'm in shorts. These (I suppose I'm correct, cause I never see um) little pricks prick me all over. Anyone else get them? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceratopogonidae

    Timing for flowers

In my pines rambling, I have a calender in my mind that tells me when plants are in bloom. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. But either way, I like seeing them every new year. This is from the Oswego River area. The white orchid was really beefy, maybe 6" tall. In the lower left is...

They are seeking comments. Not sure if you were aware. https://dep.nj.gov/swap/

    DRG24k quad dates

Boyd, I will use that USGS 24K topo. One thing I'd like to know, can I reliably call out the year this topo depicts (i.e, 1995 topo map), and if so, is it uniform throughout south Jersey?

    Oswego River Seep

Ron and I got into a nice seep where there were quite a few rare plants. It was dangerous though, the sphagnum mats were treacherous. Very deep.

Margaret Bakeley, Artist who lived at Friendship

I have 9 of Margaret's Paintings. Margaret was a folk artist. Her style is different than the style by Terry Schmidt. I love Terry's paintings as well, they are more representative of the Pine Barrens. I have a sketch that I did not frame. This was on the reverse of one of the photos. I imagine...

    It's thieving time again.

Lock up the crabmeat George, we're really taking a hit on those little succulent morsels. At BJ's.

    Discrepancy

Boyd, I don't think you'll have an easy answer to this. Don't dig real deep. The lot selected shows up on your tax map, but not the state tax map below it. Maybe they consolidated it into the state or federal land in the area. This is south of the junction of Bucks Ave and Goshen Road.

    Tax Parcel Boundaries

Boyd, I may have asked this before, but in a different way. Forgive me if I repeat. You have your parcel boundary overlaid on the 2007 natural color orthophotography. Is there any way the parcels can be overlaid on the Birdseye I have on my GPS? Barring that, is there anyway I can transfer at...

    Slope Map Black

Boyd, the slope map is too dark to see the slopes. Please check at your leisure. I want to know if it's me.

GPS coordinate interferes with creating additional

Boyd, this is odd. I created waypoints 1 and 2, but when I tried to create waypoint 3 (clicking on the center cross), waypoint 2 kept coming up instead of the coordinate entry box. I tried many times to create #3, but it refused. So I went to create waypoint 4 (many yards away), and it performed...

Stafford Township and Bass River on 1949 topo

I've never seen so much white in the Pines on a topo Boyd. Do you have an idea what's going on there?

    Mystery in the Pine Barrens

I recently stopped the subscription I have with the Wall Street Journal, but I do like it. They have just not come down to my price yet. Here's an article today. Hopefully one of you has a subscription and can post a free article.

    The Plane Boss!

This is odd. I'm looking at Cape May County on aerials, planning for visits this coming season. You know those planes we always see in aerials, and we always say they were just put there by the manager of the aerial? Well, this one has contrails. Below is a closer look, and I think I'm less than...

    The Pinelands

My brother gave me this before he passed away. Had it rolled up in his house. 20X30. I think Ted Gordon gave them a photo to draw the art. Just hung it up.

    Henry Charlton Beck

I want to recall the memory of Beck, but didn't want to fill up Tom's Hanover Furnace thread. I was thinking of Beck while thumbing through some of his books looking for information. Why did many of us love Henry Charlton Beck? Sure, he had his flaws in not having all of the data correct, but...

    Interesting Rock

Forgot about this rock I found last year, on top of a hill in the pines. Uncovered by dirt bikes I think.
