    What constitutes the Pine Barrens?

    What constitutes the Pine Barrens?

Scarlet snake I read these old posts today and thought of the only time I've seen a scarlet snake in NJ. It was in a place that would not be considered it's habitat. It was on the marshes of the Delaware bay down from Stowsneck.

I phone Have an I phone? I'm sure you're familiar with current cell phones. Believe it or not they work in most places in the pines. And the gps works well enough to get around. Not a viable alternative to a dedicated gps unit, but serviceable.

    Cycling in the Pines

Keep an eye on Craigs list. A lot of people buy nice bikes, use them once or twice, and put them in the garage. I bought a two year old $1000 Gary Fisher for $250. Couldn't tell it from brand new.Plus it had accessories and upgrades. The guy told me he used it twice.

    Cedar Bridge?

There's a reference in this article. If it's correct, the dam is alongside the Black Horse Pike in Folsom. You can Google Penny Pot,NJ for a map. www.njpinelandsanddownjersey.com/open/index.php?module=documents&JAS_DocumentManager_op=viewDocument&JAS_Document_id=125

    Cedar Bridge?

I don't recall anything about a bridge or shipwreck. There was a reference to a cranberry bog dam at Penny Pot being made of teak from a british vessel .

Driving Harrisonville Lake to Oswego Lake

I tried for quite a while. I ran into an old gentleman gathering moss and pine cones. I asked if he was familiar with a viable route. He told me there were several at one time, but none now. Allen to 539 is doable.

    Mystery solved!

I was wandering around Bass River near the batona trail when I happened upon this. Obviously DB Cooper was blown way off course and landed in the pines.
