    Atison to Mullica Campsite

I did not weigh my pack but based on how heavy it felt picking up in 2 hands, it was at least 45 lbs. I know I can lighten it as I have a habit of taking 2 items for every 1 need. I need to break away from that. There are a number of items that I always bring and have yet to use. I'm...

    Atison to Mullica Campsite

What do you mean it's wrong? Look again:) Anyway, the trip was good. Took a few pics that I'll try to post later. The hike down was nice, although I was happy to get to the site as I was pretty tired. My pack was pretty heavy. It took just about 2 hours walking time and maybe 2 1/2 hours...

    Atison to Mullica Campsite

4/1/06 to 4/2/06 I had planned to leave from Batsto, but per the map, it appears to be only 3.5 miles. I'm leaving from Atison instead (5.3 miles per map). I intend to leave Atison by 10AM and travel very leasurely, taking pics along they way. Once in camp, I hope to be able to set up my new...

Trip Report: Batsto to Lower Forge

Will you have adrenaline needles and a defibrillator for the 20 mile days:) When I did Batsto to Batona campsite last summer I was exhausted. It seemed that the first 8 miles or so were easy and the last 4-5 were like a deathmarch:jeffd: Admittedly, I had way too much gear which...

    GPS Purchase

The 76CSx was $549 I believe. With the maps (streets and topo) and the car kit, I think my grand total was ~$900.

Trip Report: Batsto to Lower Forge

**Golf Clap** Nice report. I'm still vasilating on whether or not to do Batsto to the Mullica River campsite tomorrow. After reading your report, does this mean no campfires allowed? Also, I own a WRX and I know there's been rallies down in the Pines before. Did you notice what kinds of...

    What Happened To Lower Forge?

So all those trees are chared/gone huh......... Oh, and Hapkido is a Korean MA. Combat Hapkido is self-defense oriented. A lot of joint locks and such (many of the escort techniques used by police). It also has regular punches, kicks and grappling.

    What Happened To Lower Forge?

I'm not up for 12 this week. Frankly, I'm playing this weekend by ear as I hurt my foot sparing in my combat hapkido class last weekend. I can walk and it doesn't hurt too much but I'm getting X-rays just to be sure nothing is broken in there. Thanks though, probably another time...

    What Happened To Lower Forge?

7 miles. That's good, as it looked closer by the map. I thought it might only be 3-4. I don't feel like a really long hike but wanted a little more than 3-4. Thank you.

    What Happened To Lower Forge?

Yes, I may do that. But what is the distance from Batsto to Mullica RW site? It seems pretty close. If it's close, are their some short hikes (explore) I can take from that site? Any ruins around there? And please don't forget the pics:)

    GPS Purchase

Well, I received it yesterday and played around with it a bit. Pretty nice, but the directions for it are poor. It took me forever to figure out how to switch from the navigator maps to the topo maps on the fly. You basically have to go to a sub-menu of a menu to do it. This was not in the...

    First Trip of Season

Super:rolleyes: Also, it looks like it's going to be a solo trip as my buddy bailed. Oh well, more quiet I guess. Also, I posted in another forum ("Electronics Insanity") that I've purchased a Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx (GARMIN GPS), so I'll try that out a bit.

    First Trip of Season

Yes, I'm looking forward to checking out Lower Forge. I've liked Batona, but it seems to be hit or miss regarding solitude. Also, thank you for the invitation. I'll keep my eyes open for postings. Off Topic: That reminds me, I remember meeting a guy Bob at Batona about 10yrs ago. It...
