    Lines on the Pines 2012

Rocco's is fantastic; Annata Wine Bar is also very good, but more $$. Don't forget Pic-a-Lilli Inn, about 10 miles north on Rt. 206!

    Lost Greyhound near Waterford!

Blaze has been found! On Behalf of his owner Karen, thanks to anyone who offered to help or did search for him last night! He was found about 4:30AM. He was cold, wet and tired, and his pads were cut, but otherwise he was fine.

    Lost Greyhound near Waterford!

He got loose from 1187 Middle Avenue in Waterford. All I know is that he was "headed towards Wharton SF." I'm watching their FB Page (Greyhound Angels) so if I read of any more sightings, I'll post here. Thanks so much for any help you can offer. I have a greyhound myself, and cannot imagine...

    Lost Greyhound near Waterford!

This morning, young male greyhound got loose from his home in Waterford and was heading towards Wharton State Forest. His name is Blaze; he is a brindle with a white stripe on his nose. He has tags, and I believe a leash is attached to his collar. Greyhounds, although very fast, are generally...

    Chatsworth General Store

I am the Realtor with whom Buzby's owner Marilyn listed her shop/home. To answer your questions, yes, Buzby's is still on the market and no, she hasn't lowered the price. Marilyn is in the position where she doesn't need to sell, though at 80 years old, she's thinking she should probably retire...

Lyme Disease - Do You Have IT too?

I've read of treating clothes, but didn't realize it was Permethrin. This is all enlightening for me. I used Cutter and it seemed to work, but maybe I was just lucky. Thanks for sharing your expertise. I'll continue searching for answers, as you recommended.

Lyme Disease - Do You Have IT too?

Thanks for the interesting article. My concern is that insurance might not cover more aggressive therapy, if the majority of the medical world "decides" that 4 weeks is all that's necessary. It still seems like there's a lot of conflict on how to treat Lyme, and no easy answers. And you're so...

Lyme Disease - Do You Have IT too?

I know someone locally who contracted Babesiosis right in NJ, and it took 2 bouts of high fever (105') before it was diagnosed. So yep, they're all out there, waiting. And they might just be in your own back yard, not necessarily deep in the Pine Barrens!

Lyme Disease - Do You Have IT too?

Thanks for all the info, Sue. I figured the Plum Island story had two sides, and it was reassuring to hear you tell the other side! I'd still like to read the book, LAB 257, about the facility. From reading reviews, it's also rumored to be the source of the West Nile outbreak. It sure does sound...

Lyme Disease - Do You Have IT too?

I know there are lots of people who read this forum, and I'm guessing that some of you have Lyme Disease, as I do. I contracted it 8 years ago, but thanks to the tell-tale bull's eye rash, I was diagnosed fairly early. Some aren't as lucky as I was, and as a result, don't know they have Lyme for...

    Any near Tuckerton?

Star, you should visit the Tuckerton Seaport (http://www.tuckertonseaport.org/). They have a lot of history on the area, a great maritime museum, and a re-created/restored seaport built along a boardwalk surrounding Tuckerton Creek. Often, docents are on site, carving a decoy or shucking clams...

NJ Parks Spared by Budget Axe

Barnegat Twp Wildfire 04/19/08 3 pm

I live real close to where the fire was (no, NOT in the adult communities!) I posted a mini-blog and a few photos of what went on today, at http://www.pineypower.com. It was so reminiscent of last year's fire...real scary! The response from other fire stations was amazing - Tuckerton, LEH...

Another movie about the Jersey Devil.

...and then there's the "photo" of Buzby's. That "bump-out" on the First St. side has no window. There IS a window that's been there since Marilyn renovated, and she bought in '96. It's also missing a column on the porch.

Pine Barrens Book/CD Signing at the Sweetwater Casino

Ben, Linda told me they want to sponsor website costs for one year in exchange for marketing the shirts. I'm not sure of details or exactly what she meant, since Linda was pretty busy yesterday, to say the least! PM me if you want to discuss. I had to bail out early as well - the flu earlier in...

    Chatsworth Atv park

Just for the record, Lexington Blvd. in Barnegat is not in an area where ATV's are normally used. It's a small sub-development of duplexes, mostly rentals, that has seen more than its share of vandalism, drug raids, burgularies, and even a heinous murder that as I recall, was drug-related. Not a...

    Pro at Work-Stay Clear

I'll bring up another disgraceful treatment of animals...greyhound racing. Although it's gotten much better in recent years, thousands are killed mercilessly when their "careers" are over because they're too slow, or have been injured. (I am a multiple greyhound adopter) Just today, I saw a...

I'm an Eagle fan, but have to give those Giants credit for one helluva game tonight! If I were a Giant fan I'd probably be shouting in the streets - like we Eagle fans will be doing next year, so watch out, Ben!
