I read this with a huge grain of salt.Where this woman lives is in town and the woodlot they speak of is possibly a couple dozen acres attached to the new motorsports park. That bear would have had to do some serious evading to even get into that area unseen.if it was for the motorsports park getting there from the game preserve wouldn't be a problem but just getting to the game reserve from the barrens would present quite a few.now maurice river township would be another matter,it's all woods from the barrens to eastern cumberland county with just some minor rural residential areas and roads to cross.

You got me.I was actually doing my peeping Tom act.She likes to keep her shades up when she shouldn't if you know what I mean. When she spotted me I started popping my jaws, huffing and bouncing up and down on my hands.I then knocked over her trash can, grabbed a slimy can pf baked beans in my mouth and ran.I can see her confusion.

They saw a bear in Oceanport up in Monmouth Co. in the spring of 2005. Same situation, you can't belive a bear made it into the area with out being seen.

I hate to be a party pooper but those are dog tracks and yes a bear could slip into those woods possibly from the nature consevancy along the river but if one did so it would probably be a motorsports fan. Also bears at least adults do not climb chain link fences of course neither do dogs. The tracks say dog or[erhaps a wolf or coyote.I can tell yote from dog by their trail and sign but not from individual tracks. There are black yotees but a yotee is still basically a dog and only a nitwit would mistake dog or yotee for a bear.Probably the same typ of nitwits that shoot people every year whom they've mistaken for deer.
Or like a person i once knew city raised to attempted to pet a skunk in the dusk who he mistook for a cat.My uncle yanked him away in the nick of time as he was cooing here kitty kitty kitty.

Look very much like deer tracks, definitely not bruin.

The one on the left is an obvious canine track and the right track is a partial of the two front toes.
Apparently the same bear was sighted three days later two miles away at the junction of fairton road and rieck avenue running up the sidewalk on fairton. The guy who spotted it is a foreman where i work.I lost the article but it was on the internet. He says it was a 100 lb black bear and he is a hunter and he knows. This may well be I cannot call the man a liar but I do know the article on this thread with the tracks are dog tracks, nothing like bear tracks at all.God help that bear if bear is what it is.There are some decent woods around here but he has gotten himself into a residential area with a small creek corridor running through it and several woodlots of 100 acres or so in size but he has to cross some settled turf to get into any sizeable woods now.I think he is heading for the farms and orchards of west millville and deerfield.Someone is going to kill him sure.Shoulda stayied in the Barrens.
