I struggled with selecting the proper forum in which to post this, and I think I found the right one.

I think everyone will agree that our friend Boyd has spent what seems like 20 years perfecting one of the most convenient and comprehensive mapping systems known to modern man. When I received this Rutgers Alumni mailing the other day it got me thinking how much George H. Cook contributed to mapping and the Land Grant College program in the United States. The one-click availability of Cook's Maps on Boyd's system is something I appreciate as a surveyor and environmental specialist, and as a Cook College Alumni. I associate all of that convenience with Boyd. I am pretty sure our other Cook Alums, GermanG and Spungman, would agree.

The first link below is an email in which RU Cook is announcing the annual Ag Field Day. I showed a Holstein Cow two years in a row at Cook in '80 and '81 and took a blue ribbon with my girl, Legacy Vestal Biscuit. This year they are including a George Cook look-alike contest. I don't think I have a chance in that one.:)

The link below really conveys how important George Hammell Cook was to mapping and encouraging an appreciation for the natural world in general.

God Bless George H. Cook and Boyd Ostroff our purveyor of all things mapped!!:)
