i hiked the trail 3/25- 3/27. Kaia hiked with me (my dog) and we had a great time. 56 miles hiked in 3 days. weather could of not been better. 25 at night and 45 in the day. camps were crowded, but didn't see people on trail till Sunday after 10 am. i GPS'ed the trail in three parts. Bass River to Buttonwood, Buttonwood to Batona, Batona to Ong's Hat. these are the pic's................

What do you bring to eat Karl? Do you carry a steak for the first nite, or is that only me thinking that would be a great thing to do.

Whoa...Lukes looks like a gastronomical delight. Not to be enjoyed more that once every month. I don't like subway at all. How could we, in this area, go get a subway? Have you ever seen their meat? Karl, you must have been last minute desparate.

Beleive it or not, one of the best sub shops I like is Meatheads in Lakehurst. He gets his rolls from some guy in North Jersey that really knows his stuff, and all the meats are super fresh. Try it! If he is closed, just walk a block to Luigi's and get a really good sub.

Nice! Start to finish. I have wanted to do that for a long time. I will do it Some day.

I love the pack set up on Kaia. The hammock set up looks real comfortable.

Buttonwood Hill doesn't seem to get a lot of use which is nice but it's also right next to 542 which isn't nice.I guess it'd be too much problem to make a camp just for through hikers. That area Guy and I ran into you that time out by Bulltown would be a nice area. They'd have to close that one road off to the bridge but that would keep people from driving that section of trail anyway.

Nice pics. Hear any yotes at night? I haven't taken the dog on the Batona overnight yet. He's been in bear country without problems, but I hear so many coyotes by our house that I've been a little concerned to take him out there for a couple nights. Seems like you guys did just fine though.

As long as a fire was allowed my favorite was to freeze some keilbasa and cook it over the fire on a stick. Fine dining!

middle of may im doing it south bound (SOBO) after that it'll be too hot to hike.

Hi Karl, not sure if you saw my other post, but I was wondering about the coyotes along the trail. Id love to bring my pointer along for 3 nights this Spring but wouldnt want him to attract trouble. I see you didnt use a tent.. did you tie your guy up at night? Thanks for thoughts.

Very Nice, Karl!!! Terrific pics. With all the time I've spent in the woods and all the PBX hikes I've been on, I've never hiked the batona. Hey, what hammock is that and do you recommend it? I never used one for sleeping in. Warm? quick to set up? Thanks

If you have the specific GPX files you could have uploaded them and linked to them. You would need to make them a zip file. However, it appears to me that the way you did it was fine because anyone can use that site to send the coordinates to their GPS.
