This map joins the 1980's and 1990's regional aerials with full coverage of New Jersey plus portions of neighboring states. The original imagery was a mixture of color, monochrome and infrared but I've converted it all to 8-bit grayscale for this map.
These come from a variety of individual state sources, plus some USGS NAPP imagery. The goal was to choose imagery as close to the year 2000 as possible. Here are the approximate dates, although it was necessary to fill in some (relatively small) gaps with imagery from other years. You can see one example of missing 2002 NJGIN imagery here with another to the Southeast. These were filled with NAIP 2006 imagery in this new map.
Would like to do one more midatlantic regional map using 2010 imagery so that we'll have 40 years of historical aerials available across a larger region. Have not decided whether I'll do that now or later though. Eventually, I hope to expand all of these historical aerials to cover the entire Northeastern US, but that's a huge project which will probably be done in stages throughout 2025.
This map replaces my monochrome 2002 aerials of the pines and is virtually the same, although you may notice some differences where imagery from adjacent states overlaps (such as along the Delaware River). You'll get an alert from any old links to the pines 2002 aerials and will be directed to this new map. When this map goes online later today, you'll see it here in the menu
Usual disclaimers apply - expect problems with cached data from the old map. Clearing your browser cache should solve this. If you're using a computer, the followiing article may help.
A phone can be more stubborn, as there isn't a way to do this. If you've installed the web app on your home screen, you might need to delete it and re-install if you're having problems, sorry. If you created a custom favorites menu that included the old map, that will also need to be updated.
Again, it's taking awhile to do the final processing of this map, so it's not available yet. Will post a followup later today when it's ready to go!

How to hard refresh your browser Chrome, Firefox, Safari
Hard refreshing your browser clears your cache and forces your browser to download a new copy of the website. This is extremely helpful when you developing a website and need to see new changes.
