Hi All, I took my son for what I'd hoped would be a good ride and hike back behind Harrisville and in that general vicinity yesterday. Due to health issues, I haven't been back in there in some time and took only a couple of brief trips during all the "new map discussions" and the blockades started popping up which a buddy told me about. I was SHOCKED at the number of roads now blocked to vehicular traffic and WHICH roads were blocked off. Some of it just made no sense. There's nothing back there to damage! I've seen videos of some people tearing up the landscape. I won't get started on patrolling these areas... Fun is fun but I'm not a fan of blowing everything up. Some places I've visited since the mid 80s are gone or unrecognizable. It just seems there would be a better way of handling this than just essentially shutting the whole place down. Some roads we took were not very well maintained either cutting off more paths. I bought 4WD so I could extend my hiking range as I aged. Now I guess that was a waste. We ended up over by Hampton and got a short hike in but I left very disappointed with what I saw and for my son who I was trying to get interested in long range hiking. It just seems that every single thing "Trenton" touches turns to....well, you know. Just my 2 cents...before they get taxed and wasted too.
