I was wondering why I couldn't access the Dover AFB Radar during the storm this evening...

THE DOVER AFB DOPPLER RADAR...KDOX...WILL REMAIN DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FOR MANDATORY MAINTENANCE. THE RADAR TOOK A LIGHTNING STRIKE SUNDAY AFTERNOON... WHICH TOOK OUT A POWER SUPPLY. TECHNICIANS NOTED THAT THE NEW POWER SUPPLY COULD ARRIVE AS EARLY AS MONDAY...OR AS LATE AS WEDNESDAY. ANOTHER MESSAGE WILL FOLLOW AS NEW INFORMATION ARRIVES. -B HURLEY

a village...in the pines
I was riding through Hog Wallow when I took a direct hit of this tornado/wind sheer event. There are many trees with visible lightning strikes, halved trees, uprooted trees and twisted trees. The hail was deafening, the wind scary as heck, visibility was non-existant and the storage barns at Haines collapsed and had roof portions peeled away. I witnessed one tree take a direct lightning hit and debris fly everywhere. Riding out along Rt. 563 and the open bogs, there is nowhere to stop and take cover..... The car behind me had a tree land on it. Everyone in that area was very lucky. I'll try to post some pics later tomorrow.

Wow indeed! I didn't realize the storm was that bad. Down here I got, maybe, 40 minutes of moderate to heavy rain, and that was it. Lots of thunder and lightning but nothing that struck near me.

I am trying to upload photos.....this is a test, let's see if it works.

Good, it seems to work. Hope you can get the feel of the storm from these. I hear that the NWS, county and local officials are making determinations to classify the storm based on patterns of damage viewed aerially and from ground level.

Cheers.....(Ms. Turtle) ;)
