The Blue Hole (misadventure)

Was out near Winslow today, so I decided it was a fine warm day to take a walk to the Blue Hole. I haven't been there in ten years...

... and for the life of me, I couldn't find it. I remember it being really simple - turn off Piney Hollow Road, park at lot for gun range, follow trail markers, see hole in the ground filled with water. I found an archery range just fine, but could not find a hint of a gun range.

Am I losing it, or has something changed?

The gun range on Piney Hollow?? Its massive; like 6 ranges and a pro shop....or is there a different one?

There's a big, fancy one on the other side of the road. There used to be a small gun range in the refuge proper. I did some digging on the internet, it looks like it is closed down now (might be why I couldn't find it). It threw me off.

The shotgun range is closed but the road passing by it to the west should be open. I marked the range location and the approximate location of the path that leads to the Blue Hole from that road on the attached image.

Thanks Rednek! I see what I did now, I was on Inskips road, looking on the wrong side of the archery range...

i have wandered around there twice and still couldnt find it. There was a lot of flooding, so guess ill bring my wellies next time
