I did find some of the stones. The CN (Clayton Newbold) stone mentioned on the left (Stone CN) is gone. The vehicle was a most likely stolen van up on blocks. It is gone as you say.

It is in that area. The van was out in the woods and the hole Bob mentioned is along the road. And a well is nearby as well. The stone in my photo is further away.

I don't think we were looking for a marker, we were just rummaging around. Although I don't rembember Jess being there it certainly could have been so. It had to be 20 years ago at least.

On my most recent Batona thru-hike I remember following someone's bare footprints for maybe half a mile north of Batona Campground. Some people really are just out here hiking barefoot.

Yes, it is easy to see.

Going barefoot is not a good idea out there in my opinion.
