Hello Fellow Piney's and Pineland Lover's,
I was always very proud of where I come from. I respect it, enjoy it, care for it. My ancestors date back to the 1800's in Lanoka Harbor. I watched my town populate from 3000 to almost 30,000. I was lucky to be able to raise my boys in Bamber. My favorite saying, "it takes a village to raise a child" and that it did. My boys are true Bamber Boys and now they are raising their own here. Traditions will survive but its tough training people new to the area. They don't know what happened years ago. The free lifestyle, VERY close knit rowdy bunch who knew their surroundings, really knew. Because of them we are witnessing the scars from the industrial era fade as endangered plants and wildlife rebound. Hopefully a new ignorance will not set it back. Making my other passion, history and folk lure so important. I invite and stories anyone has. Any resource suggestion welcome. The Bamber Lakes FD asked my to do a history report and I wanna know too. Camp Columbus, Bamberlakes Co/Assoc/Club. Smith Estates. Ascerdaaten, etc. If you lived in Bamber or visited often, please fill me in. I hope to write a book someday and I promise to give credit as wished. I realize some stories need to be anonymous. lol. Let the truth be told. Happy Spring folks. The lady slippers are in full bloom !!
