Lots of info on the DN Class association website here - https://www.idniyra.org/ As for sailing it, if you have the basics of small craft sailing down, it isn't that difficult to transfer those skills over to the iceboat, and I've never met an iceboater who isn't enthusiastic to offer some time...

In 2011 when I accidentally found iceboats on the river by taking the scenic route to the bank I went nuts and even delayed my newspaper a few days to fit all sorts of cool stuff like that in the issue. The Icicle beating the steam train on/along the Hudson is wild. Being invited on every time...

There's a cool novella sunk in the most recent Stephen King collection (You Like It Darker) where a guy dreams about finding a corpse half buried behind an abandoned gas station, and he can't leave it alone, so he tries and finds the gas station in his waking hours, the corpse is really there...

I've been annihilated by allergies since Sunday. Only just today lifting after tons of Zyrtec, Mucinex, Afrin and, ultimately penicillin for the resultant sinus infection. Whee!

There's a supernatural element to it in parts; it's not so much a mystery overall as a rolling history of this fictionalized area and the people who pass over it, change it, etc. But very well done.
