Old foot bridge at Batona Camp

That is hilarious. I like how the fee includes 6 days of trail food. 6 days to hike the Batona? And what kind of menu is this anyway? Vegetarian sausage. Tofurky. Sushi. Some trail food! I'd be happy to be a trail guide at half the price! hahaha oh geez Anyway, thanks for the info!

    The Woodshed a forgotten place?

That's so sad. When I was in there a few times the past few summers, there would be two other people max in there besides my friend and myself. Hope it gets revived.

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

Well we can make a guess at a minimum age for Mike. I do not know the answer to this question. When did the use of carbon papers for the fishing license become obsolete?

    Survival shelter

Yes, I know the clip you're writing of. When Stroud was in Costa Rica (I think) he mentioned using an enema if the water was to toxic, dirty, etc. to drink. This way, you'd bypass the gag reflex and not vomit, but he thankfully did need feel the need to demonstrate. Bear did not need to...

Apple Pie Hill Tower Smashed Again

Two things damkayaker: 1. So you didn't post your age on this forum because you believe that by doing so your identity may be stolen? Lying about your age on the NJPineBarrens forum is not at all like lying about your ss# for a fishing license. One is illegal and the other is not. 2. You...

    More mountain lion sightings

damkayaker posted some pretty sweet pics of a cougar a few postings back. Looks cool. Seems like we got a few hunkering around here. I'm sure there's not twenty of them setting up camp, but is still exciting. If you find the pick of a fishing Sasquatch that would be incredible gipsie!

    More mountain lion sightings

Discovery did state on page two of the article that what was found of the snake, named Titanoboa cerrejonensis, was in fact fossils. Titanoboa cerrejonensis was 42 to 45 feet long and dates back 58 to 60 million years. The article then explains that this breaks the previous record by eleven...

    More mountain lion sightings

Please excuse me, for I mistakingly wrote "tens of thousands" when I should have written "tens of millions". I "seen" on Discovery that the largest snake yet found is from tens of millions of years ago...fossilized of course. http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2009/02/04/giant-snake-fossil.html...

    Chigger Bites...! ouch!

Mike, your previous post reads as though you where digging chiggers out that burrowed under the skin (oh I see you say you used a magnifying glass now). Woodjin's post is well-founded in fact that chiggers do not burrow under the skin as many people believe. I used to believe that chiggers did...
