Just speculating but I believe the reason Absegami and Harrisville were not cleared for decades was due to the low threat level assessment but there number unfortunately came up after all these years.

You may want to reach out to folks like these for guidance on where its allowed (not many places) and where it is allowed what areas do best and what equipment they recommend. The beaches in North Jersey for instance the days after Superstorm Sandy were apparently a good place to be to find...

Absolutely appalling and unacceptable. It does not affect me directly but for the thousands of families and individuals to have their weekend and holiday plans disrupted by this level of incompetence is truly disturbing.
