So, you've found a lost cemetery. Now What?

We were looking for an entirely different one, Ben. This one was on the same old property map I've been using to find the first one ( No stones left there ), but at least we found something.

So, you've found a lost cemetery. Now What?

In October of last year, some friends and I were hiking through the Manasquan Wildlife Management Area ( MWMA ) and we came across an old tombstone. It turned out to be three in fact, after playing in the dirt for a while. Following our Adventure, we turned to the internet and the library...

    Lakewood Horse track.

30 grand! That's CRAZY. It's obvious that no one has been to the property in a long time. It's almost a nature preserve.

    Lakewood Horse track.

Recently, I was exploring in Lakewood and uncovered the remains of a horse farm which appears to have had it's heyday in the 30s. Complete with a tiny cemetery on the former property. Would you guys have any additional information on this locale? I realize this isn't the Pine Barrens now, but...

    Lakehurst, home of multiple forges?

That's the spot off of the nature trails.

    Lakehurst, home of multiple forges?

I like it for that reason too. We go there in the summer to swim in the lake. Did you know there used to be a footbridge on the other side that crossed the brook? You can still see the supports in the water...

    Lakehurst, home of multiple forges?

That's a popular spot, Joe. I see fellas out on that dock all of the time. Have you caught anything?

    Lakehurst, home of multiple forges?

I'm ready to believe that it's foam. It is kind of far from the spillway though.

    Lakehurst, home of multiple forges?

If you guys can do me a favor, open Google Earth and focus on Lakehurst. look to the right of the spillway in the lake. What is that along the stream? Is that a sandy beach or some structure?

    Scene, Yesterday

Yes, the rope mill. The post office now stands on the site of the rope mill which had burned to the ground in the early 1900s. I found a glass bleach bottle behind there that dates to that time.
