Doesn't look like it will amount to anything significant down here, just rain now and the forecast is only calling for 1 to 2 inches in my area. And the ground is so warm, that will hopefully just melt since it will all be over in a few hours. We are lucky with the timing on this, if it had started a little later we could have gotten a nasty ice storm with the temperatures dropping down to 15 degrees tonight.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST
TODAY...

* LOCATIONS...a portion of northeast Maryland through central
Delaware into the southern tip of New Jersey.

* HAZARD TYPES...Snow and sleet.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches.

* TIMING...heaviest sleet and snow will fall between 8 am and 11
am then quickly end around Noon.

* IMPACTS...The snow and sleet will create hazardous travel. The
combination of snow and strong winds could produce isolated
power outages.

* WINDS...North to northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40
mph.

* TEMPERATURES...falling to near 30 during the snow and sleet
then recovering slightly during the afternoon.

Just got back from Cumberland and Cape May Counties, light rain changed to snow flurries around 8:30 AM. Saw a big variation in the rate of snowfall, from flurries to big steady flakes. It was frosting the trees but melting immediately on contact with the roads. Doesn't look like there will be much accumulation, just light flurries here now.

Then we will be back in the mid 50's by Sunday. Interesting February weather… I took this picture 18 hours ago :)

Uncertainty in Snowfall Forecast:

Overall confidence is moderate; however, the northern extent of accumulating snow is a low-confidence forecast.

A track further north could result in higher totals.

snow3.png

Snow is expected to begin by Saturday evening. It is expected to continue through at least Sunday afternoon before tapering off from north to south. Snow may linger in Delmarva into Sunday night.

There is the potential for 2 to 5 inches of snow in eastern Maryland, Delaware, and southern New Jersey. Locally higher amounts are possible, particularly in southern Delaware and adjacent portions of Maryland.

Up to 2 inches of snow is anticipated for southeastern Pennsylvania and central New Jersey. There may be little accumulating snow north of Philadelphia, though the northern extent of accumulations is currently a low-confidence forecast.

There is a small chance of gale force wind gusts on the coastal waters of New Jersey and Delaware, and on Delaware Bay from Sunday afternoon into Sunday night.

Coastal flooding is not expected with this system.
