In other words... the land we love got a nice drink of water

Quite an understatement! :)

Remember... "100% more than normal" means twice the normal amount of rain, and "200% more than normal" means three times the normal amount. The whole pines got more than twice the normal amount of rain!

Was out to Friendship bogs yesterday. Hawkins Rd is getting some big puddles with deep ruts between Hawkins Bridge and the bogs.
I slid in to the ruts in on one and the whole truck dropped and a wall of water came over the hood. I didn't think I was getting out , but luckily
I had enough momentum to keep going. Just before that the Alternator started screaming like a banshee because the rear baring failed.
I stopped just past the camp site and unplugged it and drove home on the battery and a jump box. It made a lot less noise with out a load on it.

I suspect that even after all the rain stops coming down it is going to be a long time before some roads are fixed and back to normal.

I was out that way last Thursday and most of the puddles only had water in the deep ruts, you could see them and it was easy to stay out of
them. I try and stay to one side and run one set of tires down the middle, most of the time it works, that time it didn't.

I am glad you made it out. That is really bad news, I always thought Hawkins was one of the few 100% passable roads. Thanks for the heads up.

This morning they doubled the rain forecast to a maximum of two inches. Has really been coming down, I wouldn't be surprised to see even more than that. Warm night and morning - it got up to 58 degrees by 10 AM, but looks like the cool-down has already begun at 55 degrees now.

We are at 59 having been up to 61. This is the anniversary of the 2016 blizzard, around 30" of white fluffies; glad its not cold :), but it will be in a few hours. The cold front has some freezing precip in it.

The 50+ mph wind gusts due on Mon with the cold front are the problem.

Lights just flickered here....

We didn't see any trees down at Bass River SF, not yet, although I would be surprised if we didn't lose a few. One wind casualty though - snapped right off its footings:
