Love this site came across it Via "modern Ruins & Urban Explorations", I've grown up in South jersey mostly Medford, Use to drive for Peter lumber Drove all over southern area..( Some deliverys took longer than others..lol ) A lot of back roads. A friend of my childhood, his father use to scout out old barns & house that were not lived in To explore...that's what got me hook. BUt due to getting married early 19 yrs old & three Beautiful kids later. I never was able to quench my drive to explore the southern area in more depth. lately my brother-in-law took me to By-berry over in PA...what a rush & I was in awe of the buildings & structures. That's what prompted me to start checking the web for pic's & stuff thus led me here locally. Admire all the pictures everyone has posted with storys & history. Why I'm posting this is to see if anyone is willing to take me along (possibly my sons also 13 &14) with them on any day trips on the weekends. I be greatful & it would be a learning thing for the boys also. We once drove down one of the side roads in the atison area we drove for about and hour never seeing anything, due to we never got out of the truck to look either.. but any info or directions would be also of great help. much thanks

Love this site

Getting married at 19 has it's advantages and disadvantages; however, you are about to see more of the advantages in the coming years in my opinion. You still will be young as you explore the pines when the kids are out doing their own things. My exploring picked up when my kids were old enough to be left alone.

You say you have three kids, so I am assuming you have a daughter, and you don't want to leave her out of the fun. My daughter goes almost everywhere with me. She has been to more places in the pines than most old timers have.

As for places to go, just read some of the old posts and see what interests you, and maybe you can get some feedback from the members here. Most of the members here explore on their own. But once in a while there are group outings that you can join in on.

And make sure you get out of the truck the next time and roam around. Very few interesting places are that close to the road.

You might start with some places which are easy to find and get to like

http://www.batstovillage.org/

http://www.aclink.org/PARKS/mainpages/historic.asp#weymouth

http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/departments/resource_conservation/parks/sites/museum/info/

Here is a nice site which also has more links on the page

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sjunpaved/default.htm

If you see some pictures in the photo section that you find interesting do a search of this site and the internet for more information. Look at a few maps like Google Maps, TopoZone or the Historic Maps offered on this site. You'll probably be able to find a number of them on your own.
