    Kayaking on the Wading Again

Thanks for that! I'm going to add it to my personal list! (and see if I can edit my old post to reflect that number). Do you have numbers for the other gauges you use? Just want to see if they reflect my own (or not).

    Kayaking on the Wading Today

Sorry for the little late reply (just checking on this forum about anything mentioning kayaking as that's my hobby ;) but just had to reply to this: Not that I'm a big drinker or anything, and I'm also NOT a lawyer... but they shouldn't be able to search you or your belongings unless there's...

    Kayaking on the Wading Again

Sorry for the late reply (just checking for myself if there's any trip reports about water levels!). I made this post a while ago about the gauges on a couple river which might help you: https://forums.njpinebarrens.com/threads/minimal-water-level-to-paddle-rivers.10734/ I believe I read that...

Possible Government Shut-down may affect your weekend..

Yeah, we decided not to go. Pine Barrens Canoe is running trips (they have permission from the state/park police? or whatever to traverse the roads - hats off to Mike there BTW - awesome guy who gave lots of free advice to a non-customer), but we don't want to risk getting our cars towed. So...

Possible Government Shut-down may affect your weekend..

I was planning on going kayaking on the Wading River today. I'm trying to find out if my car will be towed if I park at Hawkins or Evans. The Atsion ranger station confirmed the roads won't be gated, and Micks/Pine Barrens canoe (which was closed when I called, then while I was on the phone...

Minimal Water Level to Paddle Rivers

Thanks for the confirmation! I think there's a problem with the Oswego gauge thought – I don't think it's a very accurate way to tell how the paddling conditions are... For example, when the Mullica was at well below half it's runable water height (i.e. drought everwhere), the Oswego gauge...

Minimal Water Level to Paddle Rivers

So what do you guys think about paddling this weekend on the Batsto or Mullica rivers? Here's the USGS gauge for Mullica (from Atsion Lake) If it keeps on following it's downward slope from last weeks rain, it'll probably be below my drop-dead point of 0.95 feet....but I'm dying to get in one...

    more pine snakes

We saw a fat old Timber rattlesnake up by Harrisville Dam last month. Never even knew they were in New Jersey! Usually see regular snakes every kayak trip down there (just never seen a rattler before).

Minimal Water Level to Paddle Rivers

Been there, done that Karl – and no thank you! Think my record on the Mullica from Atsion to Mullica River Camp was 8 hours (with some people new to kayaking), and 542 is even further down. That sounds like our last trip down the Wading from Speedwell to Hawkin Bridge. Probably no less than 12...

Minimal Water Level to Paddle Rivers

I hear you. I've been checking water levels a couple times a week (especially after rain). Even after we have a pretty large downpour the water levels are still extremely low on most of those rivers...I haven't been out on an overnight kayak trip since the beginning of the season.

Minimal Water Level to Paddle Rivers

Hello all, first post here and I thought I'd go straight to the experts of the Pine Barrens for this information: What are the lowest runnable water levels on the Mullica, Batsto, Oswego, and Wading rivers for a kayak? Below I made a list of each river, the USGS gauge link, what section(s) I...
