I think the map is for the mill site that was several miles up the Atsion at the mouth of Sleepy Creek. The lidar image appears to be the old Cripps Sawmill.

So if you follow Landing Creek upstream to where it passes under Clark's Landing Road there is some sort of wooden structure or bulkhead. It is clearly visible from the road. Does anyone know the history of that structure?

I did not know immediately but had a pretty good idea where to look. Found it quickly on the map. Kinda feel like I cheated. The small north-south running creek seems too straight to be natural. Any idea if it was dug?

I wonder if that oxbow to the west is subject to flooding during exceptionally high tides. Might explain why a ditch was necessary.

When Atsion was advertised for sale in 1861 the site was already referred to as Old Goshen Mill which usually indicated that it was the former site of a mill. I have not done an exhaustive search to find out if there are earlier documents that tell us that the mill was gone before then. As for...

We should consider that the timbers at the lower end of the canal could be the remains of some type of water-powered industrial works.
