    Pine Barren History Shorts

Also gotta wonder how many of those 1950's rear-wheel drive cars got stuck (and how accurate that 140 car figure is)...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

FlightAware will send you one of theirs and a server to integrate into their network for free IF you're located somewhere they don't already have coverage. I see a variety of devices in the $30-$40 range at Amazon. Not something that I ever looked into before... how do you get data out of these...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

I think it was a GPS that had an ADSB receiver inside, I was not suggesting it came from Amazon! Just showing that the technology has become widely available now. I have no idea what device you actually saw.

    Working with Waypoints and Maps

5 digits would certainly be as accurate as any GPS you're likely to find. For me, either 4 or 6 digits were the options I have considered. Either way, it would involve changing some code so the mobile and desktop versions have a different number of digits.

In the meantime... maybe you can use my pinesXT app? It displays 6-digit coordinates.

    Working with Waypoints and Maps

Yeah, I think it used to be 6 and I shortened it because it won't fit on a phone screen (that part of my code is the same for both the mobile and desktop versions). 4 digits is around 30 ft precision, 6 digits is something like 3 inches - unless you're using special equipment that costs...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

Sorry @lj762 , I'm sure you were just trying to be helpful but you seem to be confused. First you said the data from the state had "serious errors", but now you say the errors are "relatively small". You said that the data from waymarkedtrails was "more accurate than the state's data because it...

    "Elevated fire weather conditions"

59 percent humidity at 68 degrees in my little studio/workroom which is separated from my bedroom with a partition. I leave the heat on low in the bathroom after my morning shower and that helps a lot in these two rooms, I use a small humidifier as the day goes on. Burning the woodstove on a...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

Not familiar with that site, but had a quick look and this is the Batona Trail data https://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/#route?id=4129027&type=relation According to the site: "The elevation profiles are made with elevation data from the ASTER global digital elevation model (GDEM) version 2"...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

I have no idea how accurate the njgin data is, but will take your word for it. I have removed the .gpx file I posted earlier, so as not to spead data with "serious errors".

    Mount Misery Brook

Could it be related to other factors? Record high temperatures? Increased use of water for agriculture/development? If the foliage is getting denser, would that suck up more water?

    Mount Misery Brook

Really not seeing anything that drastic down here in Atlantic/Cumberland Counties. But all the forecasts I've seen are calling for a wet winter due to El Nino, so hopefully things will improve. As I read it, this map suggests that precipitation over the past 365 days has been very close to...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

OK - sorry - please disregard the part about text files above. I was able to get .gpx file uploads working (needed to clear my browser cache after changing the forum settings). Here's the .gpx version, let me know if you have any problems with it. [edit]Sorry, download has been removed. See the...

    Batona Trail Mile Markers

The trail is clearly shown as a a green dashed line on my 2020 topo, you can create waypoints by moving the map so the crosshairs are on the desired point, then clicking them. These can then be exported in GPX format as Garmin-compatible waypoints if desired. But that might not be what you have...

    Tar Kiln Locations?

I think there are much more, am counting 8 or 9 scattered around here - maybe more (although it's easy to let your imagination mislead you, LOL) https://boydsmaps.com/terra/#39.709914/-74.606596/0/49651/0/0/0/0/1380/600/-901/45/5/2d/shader40/0/0/z17

Thanks, will try that the next time somebody posts a link. But that's a site that just doesn't interest me otherwise.

Egg Harbor Township to decide whether to accept 525 acres of land

FWIW, here's the parcel with the wetlands. Interesting that the state has no ownership records in their database. But it's only about 36 acres, so obviously there's a lot more to the 525 acres being offered for protection. https://boydsmaps.com/pines/#16/39.394759/-74.575043/parcels07/0/0/...

    Batona Trail Dirt Road Widened?

I think @Teegate can tell you more about that. Like I said, there may be another thread about it but I couldn't find it after a quick look. :)
