New Car or Nearly New Car

That just happened to my sister last month, except it was $250. She just said "I am not paying for that". The only thing that works for me is endless patience and the willingness to just walk out.

    STARI

STARI. Lyme is already here. NJ has so many lone star ticks, so I'd be concerned with STARI. It's not as serious but still no bueno.

Rare Parasite Infects Two Hunters in New Hampshire

Whoo. You do NOT want this one for sure. I'd rather be bitten by a thousand deer ticks. I am not sure this one has never been seen in humans though.

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

Super bummer. They look a lot like American dog ticks, but have much longer mouthparts and tend to be larger. You guys be on the lookout for these. They have a very painful bite.

Meetup With Invisible Menace No Walk in the Pinelands Park

Look in the areas with tall grass for the larvae, and in dead and rotting organic material (especially logs) for adult mites. The adults live close to the ground and are readily visible with the naked eye.

It was a long time ago, but we did get specimens of adult harvest mites (they are not the bitey stage) from that area. No photos, sorry to say.
