    Changes to Forked Rivers

The south branch pipes have been out for several years now. Be careful, there is a metal angle iron underneath the water and sticking straight up. When (if) you drive through, make sure you look it over first. There had to be at least a small trestle at the South Branch. Long gone now.

I understand. I don't like people who trash places either. Like Pasadena, which is also very upsetting.

    Where is this?

This is an interesting landmark I found tonight just flying around the aerials. Can anyone tell where it is and the history?

Interesting that the name on the map is Winfield Eldridge. Wonder if related to Norman. Cool first name.

    Where is this?

That first spot with the wires looks like ore spung, and I think someone took a photo I'm in on the second one. But, my memory is fading, could be incorrect.

    Where is this?

Back then, you'd have to drive home, grab the handset off the wall, and dial information and ask for the Forest Fire Warden. I forget what we had to do to get information. Ask the operator?

PS: that sassafras close up. Almost looks like some kind of rock formation.

This is an interesting condition on this tree. I was lucky enough to see a branch of leaves that had fallen.

I like Chestnut Oak. I think of it as a very stable species, and a good-looking tree all the time. Another tree deserving respect is Willow Oak. While some white oak down there can get big and fat, Willow oak is always rigid, straight, big, and strong looking. They are quite numerous in the...

    Cape May County Explorations

There was one sassafras tree about 40 yards away that was only 8" in diameter, but the leaves were comparitively huge. This mitten one is 8" by 4"

Al, it is a sassafras. I went back today. There are about 5 live ones and several big ones on the ground. I measured it as 64 inches in circumference. That is a diameter of 20 inches. How about this guy. If somebody told me he put a rugged tree stand in a sassafras, I'd look at him funny-like.

    Howell Ruins

There are over 13,000 threads on this forum. I don't see any of the management encouraging tresspassing. Too big of a job to scrutinize and parse out posts and take action. After all, posters are adults. This is just my personal opinion. Maybe you were adressing the poster?

Kris Kristofferson wrote this song too. In my opinion, Ray Price did it best. What a performance and voice. Very sad, emotional song. Many of us have been there.
