    NJ blueberries 2024

You bought them that way? I suppose you don't mind because you'll freeze them, but they look gnarly.

    Pitch Pine

Well, if it was less rare, I would see it more often though I may have seen it in the pine plains ago years but forgot....things get real squirrely out there. Remember, PBX has done somewhere north of 80 trips(?), and I don't have any recollection of seeing it.

    Pitch Pine

This pitch pine could not wait for a branch to throw out a cone. He was proud, so threw one out before the branch. First time for me to see this. Hovnanian Preserve.

    A New Centralia in SNJ?

That is very insteresting to me. They called it "the stuff" :). If it's in an advanced stage far on its way to being anthracite, did it surpass bituminous already, which takes 100 to 300 millions of years to form? From a government site: "Lignite is crumbly and has high moisture content, which...

Hope I spelled the state and insect right. Anyway, this sounds serious. I wonder why NJ has not had a problem like this. This can be read by anyone. https://wapo.st/3XgA6vU

    Cape May County Explorations

As soon as I saw this tree on a slope to a swamp, I knew identifying it would either be impossible or readily determined. The leaves are all crowded towards tthe branch ends. Now, 4 days later, I give up. I think it's a hybrid oak; possibly Q. falcata and Q. phellos, both common down there.

    Spring/Summer Flora

Yes, Limonium carolinianum is what's in the photo. When I saw them last week in the saltmarsh, I thought they were Symphyotrichum tenuifolium, the saltmarsh aster. However, I could not understand why they were blue, but I just wrote it off to my weakening memory or the fact that some species can...

    Spring/Summer Flora

No, it's not that Gibby. Wait, you may be right. I should have keyed it out, but I made a visual assumption (big no-no). Let me get back to you on that. Gibby, you are right. You've done me quite a favor. I assumed it was another plant I already have in my collection.
