Evidence of Wild Pigs in The NJ Pine Barrens

It's the mindset. I did an small, targeted survey behind Ocean Acres on Monday, and it was clear to me most of the people living there could not give a rats ass about the environment. This pile of junk with the houses in the background is typical. Nobody has lifted a finger in that neighborhood...

    Tom Browns Passing

In the same area, Lacey's John Parker has passed away. He was mayor three times, and likely knew Tom Brown.

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Yesterday in Cape May was so nice I was in the woods and Marsh for 4 straight hours, with not even a greenhead nor mosquito around (IN A MARSH!)

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

I just drove home from Marlton, and the storms seem to be just sitting there in the southern half of the state, like SW of Maurice River and WNW of Winslow.

    Spring/Summer Flora

No, but as a consolation prize, I tried to make it that in the technical manuals, because I remember spectabilis fondly from the 1990's. This particular plant is most often found (in our pines) in old dry fields, sandy roadsides, edges of firetrails in the sun, etc.

    NJ blueberries 2024

This was not directed at you. They were grown in Vineland. Quality does not improve if people don't demand it. I used to pick and prune for Lyman Simpkins in Pemberton in the 60's. He was always on us about wet berries and crushed berries.

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

What has me wondering is, why is it evenly oval, and not teardrop shape. And the larvae usuall have a transparent look to them. Boyd, if you get more you could mail me one or two and I'll stick it under the scope. Kill with alcohol and stick it in a baggie so it wont dry out.

    NJ blueberries 2024

I understand you are being careful with how you adress this. As an avid and critical consumer of blueberries I am giving an honest critique. I very rarely come across 3 or 4 berries caught in the lid when closed. You did not adress that. Is that an automated process? If so, it needs to be fixed...

About 14? years ago I came across this band. Played in a small bar in Chicago. I bought a CD but lost it. Good stuff.

    NJ blueberries 2024

I was at BJ's a couple weeks ago and was embarrassed for my home State of NJ. Some farmers have zero quality control. Green berries and wet berries (moldy) and smashed berries, especially when they close the lid. What, you can't see that? C'mon, put out a quality product or you will die off. I...

    Ticks & Chiggers--a study

I encourage everyone to have a zoom microscope in their home. Ever since I've had my mine, I can't see how I could get along without it. It's not just for plant ID. Identify creatures Read very small print Pull out splinters, barbs, and thorns (indispensible) Work on very small parts. You can...

I hope they put some type of barrier up as well by now. Imagine someone unfamiliar with the area pulling into what they perceive as a clearing on a stormy night.
