    Batsto Furnace and Forge?

Thanks! That's a great map. Lists the site of the glassworks as well, which is pretty interesting. Is there any record of the restoration of Batsto? I understand it has a long history, and they had to make choices. Just wondering how they came to their decisions.

Guys. Any idea where the Batsto furnace and forge were actually located?

Thanks! I would appreciate that. It's very pleasant there. Wish there was some water close by, but oh well.

    Am I a Piney Now?

Looks like this before the blueberry bushes kick in. Tent shouldn't be a problem. Sorry about the double picture. Getting smarter one mistake at a time!!

    Am I a Piney Now?

Ah, I see. I read up on “state plane projections”, which was pretty interesting. I wasn’t aware of any of that information. I don’t feel any smarter having read the article, but I do feel like I’m a bit more informed. I’m thinking I will be able to get close to these coordinates using the GPS I...

    Am I a Piney Now?

Ha! So true! I prefer to think of it as “nominal”. Didn’t want the kids fighting over my vast real estate holdings when I die. But I do intend to set up a tent and camp on it. Hope there aren’t too many whippoorwills in that area.

    Am I a Piney Now?

Not really. I’m in Deptford, so figure a little over an hour to get there. But I’m full time (33 months away from retirement!) at Penn, which has been a bit crazy because of the pandemic. And I have a side hustle, laser cutting models for the NY theater designers. That pretty much dried up from...

    Am I a Piney Now?

Wow!! This is amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time on this! And the disclaimer is noted. The coordinates, while a lot more precise, are pretty much what your map and Onx Hunt indicate. And yes, while I’ve done many foolish things, I’m not fool enough to think that I could come any...

    Am I a Piney Now?

I did get a deed, a pitiful thing printed out on 8-1/2 x 11. Not at all what I was hoping for, which was more along the lines of a gilded document with a lot of scrollwork, suitable for framing. But it’s legally binding and recorded with the county. But there was no survey, which was no surprise...

    Am I a Piney Now?

It’s been a pretty tough winter but I’m back on the case! The 66 foot road width is a good clue! And that seems to be close to the measurement from the road center to the northernmost corner. I figure if I can find one corner with any kind of certainty (the huge hope would be a pin!), then the...

    Am I a Piney Now?

A survey would be awesome, but I'm sure that would be expensive. My good wife would rightfully kick me to the couch! Gonna have to stick with dogged determination and the expectation of some kind of dumb luck.

    Am I a Piney Now?

Still trying to really pin down these property corners. I was on the verge of buying a Garmin GLO but finally was able to convince a friend who has access to a Trimble GeoXH GPS to go with me to my property to join in the search. I was hoping to get some expert help/advice on coordinates before...

    Am I a Piney Now?

Can't seem to find that article in the Pine Barrens History Shorts thread (but I found a lot of other amazing info!). But I WILL find that tank/tower foundation!!!!

    Am I a Piney Now?

That's pretty cool! I was thinking to fan the boys out and maybe get them tp try to draw up a map. Might be interesting. Am I correct in thinking that these guys dammed the Oswego to make the lake? I seem to remember seeing this posted on here a while ago.

    Am I a Piney Now?

I've driven through that area a bit and I've done a little hiking around there but not as much as I want to. Last weekend's plans to get there got put on hold, and this weekend we're taking the Boy Scout troop on a bike hike from Carranza to Oswego Lake. Going to check out the CCC camp ruins...
