The one in the upper left corner is copyright 1958. Tree Finder is 1963 revised 1998. The Audubon tree guide (brown cover) is 1980. The last 2 are this century.

    Cape May County Explorations

These are my current tree guide books in addition to the technical guide that I use for graminoids, sedges, and forbs which is not that helpful for trees.

    Cape May County Explorations

I walked down this abandoned road in a very wet swamp. Water was about 6 inches above my knees. After a couple hundred feet I had to retreat.

That one stumped me Al. I thought it was maybe black gum. Are you certain it's persimmon? If so, have you seen one this big before? Edit: I just did a search, you are right. Never seen one this big before. Here's the State champion:

Here's one for you. I think many know this tree. I could only see the leaves faintly above, but I'm about 90% right in my guess I think.

I don't understand why the person's name above his does not seem to belong? Is it Alice Mays Wells?

    Where is this?

Is there dampness at the bottom? Do you see different plants than the higher portion? I'll have to check it out. Though I saw it on lidar I did not go yet. Ps: Would you have been able to tell me where the diggings and concrete were if I did say Dennis Twp?

    Where is this?

I was wondering what that was (if we are speaking of the same thing). Here's what I think you mean on lidar. When I saw it I told myself they shoveled it looking for more good stuff and the guy was told to keep going until he found some, which he maybe never did.

    Where is this?

It is here, along Woodbine-Oceanview Road. I apologize profusely. It's in Dennis Township. Ignore the business immediately to the SE, that's not connected to it. I dare say it was a resource extraction business many years ago, but in the 20th C.

    Where is this?

No, not there. It seems to be a place either unkown, or long forgotten about. Would you like me to reveal it?

    Where is this?

    That would be Burlington.

    Where is this?

Nobody got this one? Here is an obtuse clue: It is said she was the last of her breed living in the county.
