    Exploring with Bobpbx

I believe we stumbled across this location or a very similar one. Unfortunately, it was March. Brrr! I don't know why we had the sense to be careful and poke at the pools to see how deep they were, but we did. Oy. Nice photos, those orchids are magnificent.

    About Spam Posts

We have a hack on our forum that allows you to moderate posts. It's the same software as this one, but I think it's updated to the latest version. It will allow you to block certain words from being posted, the posts will appear only to the moderators, and you will have to approve or otherwise...

    About Spam Posts

I think the spammers get paid per spam post, too. Don't know if it matters that it gets withdrawn. Like I said, I moderate a pretty large forum and we are constantly barraged. If we didn't have a lot of vigilant mods, the forum would be brought right to its knees, it would be all spam and no...

Would that be me? If it is, how embarrassing. :) I am a moderator on a pretty large forum, so I am sort of tuned for spam. We get a lot of it.

Tick-borne ills on decrease in southern N.J.

My coworker has been out all week, he has been diagnosed with ehrlichiosis and is really very sick. I didn't even think people GOT ehrlichiosis, but I guess we do. Scary stuff. (I think he was in Mass at the time he picked up the tick).

    Gypsy Moth Damage

It's not safe for inverts though, that's the problem.

    Gypsy Moth Damage

What's Demand CS? Is that lambdacyhalothrin? Yeeks. That would have some bad environmental effects if so. I'd hate to see them spray the pines with that. The fish tox is terrible.

    Crabbing

Jeff, I spent my weekend floating in the ocean, too. I thought it was perfect, I couldn't get out. :) I think I spent three hours on Sunday just beyond the giant surf. I was all pruney. I grew up in Normandy Beach, (well, the summers anyway), we had a house on the ocean block of 3rd ave. I...

    Gypsy Moth Damage

Far more toxic substances? Bt is definitely not "far more toxic". I'd say the EPA had a good reason, the insect growth regulator in Dimilin will kill far more than the target pests. For example, there was a big lobster dieoff in New England a couple of years ago due to spraying.

Crabs? I found one in the ocean today. With my foot. Ow.

    Gypsy Moth Damage

Interesting, I thought they had sprayed this year with Dimilin. Guess not. I wondered why we were seeing so many adult moths. I am guessing that costs a lot more than the Bt. It would be nice if the Bt would work, it's a bit more "green", but if it doesn't work, it's a colossal waste of money.

    Turks Cap Lily

Yeah, wasn't the day perfect? I couldn't take my eyes off the blue sky and the poofy clouds. It was a fantastic day to be alive. :)

    Piranhas? Yikes!

Pete. That cracks me up. I like it. It's a very good fish name.

    Piranhas? Yikes!

Well slap me and call me Shirley. Judging from the shape of the anal fin, that looks like a piranha. The pacu has an anal fin that's more wavey. That's happened before, I recall a man catching one in the Delaware River in Bordentown about 15 years ago. They're sold regularly as pets to any...

    Chigger?

Sorry to break it to you, but we have those here in the US, too. My cat had one last year.
