    If it is on a stump it looks like a gnarled up Oyster but I would need to see the underside to know for sure.Oysters are quite edible but as I said I cannot ID this from the pic,need to see it's belly.

    I am thinking your saying post # 1488 is at the outlet of the big bog on the Batona trail between 563 and 679. I have walked the trail through there many times and have never noticed this wall.
