    another barren night

For such a youngster, Alfling, you do have some good ideas . . . like the SD echolocation plan. An audio map of the barrens would be quite cool. Glo

    another barren night

Just nothing like having a vivid imagination, is there? And from a naturalist too, go figure! I thought you scientific types had to stick to the facts. Now from MY point of view, he's the perfect shape, the way God made him. The contemplative look in his eye is because he's composing a...

    Stuff I've Seen this Spring

Great photos! Quite eclectic . . . :) I like your turtles, and the bee hives. A cool perspective on the APH tower . . . dizzying. Snakes: I have to agree with Guy--kind of too-perfect-to-be-true. You'd think, with all the slithering they do, they'd at least have a few smudges...

    Dawn Patrol and Mud City

Beautiful. Especially the third one down, with the bird soaring past threatening clouds. Wish I could do that. Glo

    The "Project"

Love this project. Thanks for the photos, Jessica . . . but don't let them talk you into donating your hair! They could plant alliums or salvia, which are natural deer repellents. :) Glo

    Eaten Alive

Amazing sequence! Seems strange that he couldn't get away. His strength must be in his back legs. Wow. Note to Al: thanks to your comment--anything I write, I'll make sure my frogs go down headfirst. :) Glo

Chatsworth Lake and the Bog of Dead Turtles

And the Friendship bogs would be no exception, I assume. Thanks, Jeff; this is helpful. I'll have to see what else I can learn about them. Glo

Chatsworth Lake and the Bog of Dead Turtles

Thanks, Jim, for the link. I was curious about the redbellies. It says they live in sloughs, but doesn't mention bogs. Too bad--I'm looking for bog turtles (i.e. turtles that live in bogs. Al told me about the bog turtle and a few others.) But I'll file the link as a useful resource. Glo

Chatsworth Lake and the Bog of Dead Turtles

Some of those shells are beautiful, Jeff. You might have already identified it (red belly????) but what is the one with the white patch on its back? How old do you think it would have been? Glo

    Turkey Beard forest

I kind of like it the way it is, Ed. LOL. And your photos -- Turkey Beard? Didn't know the name, but it's impressive. Your macros . . . pretty cool. Love how more and more macro shots are showing up on this forum. Glo

Pinelands woodland survival seminar on June 18

I remember finding that thread a while ago, just after reading and taking copious notes from Brown's books, thinking how remarkable his experiences were. But could this be a dependable source? Came to the Forum to see what y'all thought. Satanic cults? Huge packs of wild dogs? etc. Great stuff...
