    Hiking/camping partner

Lost another hiking partner. My oldest living brother Bob passed away 2 weeks ago. The attached picture is from a great trip we took in Shenandoah. Bob is second from the left. My brother Bud, in the front right, passed in 1997. We enjoyed many a campfire at some "bandit" spots in the pines...

    Lebanon Lakes Area

Snow Geese and Tundra Swans talking. Isn't that a beautiful sound? I parked near a bog once with a large flock of Snow Geese on the water, talking. Fell asleep to the music!

Litter and Trash at East Creek Lake. Grrrrr....

Unfortunately, that's how pine barrens "occasional" visitors treat the area. Then people like us pick it up. Thanks for your efforts, KDOG. Greg

    Bread and Milk

Got up this morning, cleared the truck and went to work. It was just winter snow, no big deal. I just wish it would stay cold and maybe cut down on the ticks and chiggers next year. The woods were gorgeous!

    Snowy Owl

Both Owls we saw were on the other side of the waterway's, so people getting to close wasn't a problem. The "crowd" was also very polite. No birder fights. Tomorrow should be much more quiet, I'll be somewhere in Wharton.

    Snowy Owl

Hello everyone! I haven't been on in quite some time. Nagging health issues have kept me a little down, but it's good to be back. Denise and I went to Forsythe Friday. I thought the road would collapse with all those cars and optics in one spot. The Snowy Owls were beautiful, though. Also saw...

    Another Ride

Jeff, you need to get some scratches on that cherokee! I've had my pickup 6 years, I've broken mirrors off, hit trees, gotten stuck and had a ball with it!. Good luck with the new wheels.

    Private beach

I know that there is little possibility of this, but I go to a small beach on a very small stream in the pines, and I've never seen a foot print there. Last week I had one of those "I've died and gone to heaven" moments. It was hot and I stopped at "my" beach. I swam a little, ate lunch and fell...

Favorite place in the Pine Barrens

My favorite place in the pines? In winter, just about any cedar swamp. In summer, any cool cedar water spot where I can swim. And when the urge hits, I'll swim in the fall when the cedar water is cold.

Stretch along Maurice River in Cumberland becomes a living shoreline

I spend time on Malaga Lake, which I believe feeds the upper Maurice River. There must be a Bald Eagle nest along the river somewhere because I see one of the mature eagles hunting Malaga Lake often. I know they are more common now, but it's still a thrill to see one catch a fish!

    Mullica

Same luck for me. I've been bitten so many times I've lost count. Yesterday it was green heads! Fishing has been very slow.

    The plains

I spent a very enjoyable 5 hours wandering through the plains off rt 539 on Sunday. My brother had never stopped and hiked there, and it was a nice cool day for exploring. Sorry, forgot the camera, but most of you know the unusual beauty of this unique area. What a great day to be out, and the...

    Back to the Pines

Just a brief update. Most tests were ok., Still some unanswered questions, bur so far nothing serious. Been out in the woods a few times, those of you who have been laid up, you know how good it felt to be back in the woods, watching the wind blow the cedar tree tops, or sitting watching a cedar...
