Weird pine barrens images from new Photoshop AI feature

Seems to me, if you can find a picture with a Google search, then it's probably been used to train an AI. Wouldn't be at all surprised if some elements of pictures from this site went into the mix here, but not used in ways we could directly point to as somebody's picture. But I was glad that it...

Weird pine barrens images from new Photoshop AI feature

Definitely NOT one of those uses :D "The Jersey Devil, a black bear, a dire wolf and Bigfoot sitting at a rustic table playing poker under a full moon in the New Jersey Pine Barrens" LOTS of weird things about these creatures if you look closely. Doesn't seem to know what Bigfoot looks...

Weird pine barrens images from new Photoshop AI feature

Will admit, have never tried using any of the generative AI tools that have recently become available. But I noticed they can now be accessed directly in Photoshop. So, just for fun.. "A nineteenth century topographic map of a secret location in the New Jersey Pine Barrens" (three variations)...

    Origins of Pestletown

That is interesting. Here's my version of the tax parcels, rotated at 45%, similar to your map - apologies to you North-up fans! :D That little cemetery lot seems to have merged with lot 13 on your map. https://boydsmaps.com/#17.00/39.710754/-74.825388/darkstreets/45.00/0.40 The 24k legacy...

    The Turpentine Industry

Always loved the smell of turpentine. For the most part, I think people use "mineral spirits" as a paint thinner now, don't they? Wandering around the pines, I like to grab a small group of pine needles from time to time and twist them to squeeze out a little juice, then take a big sniff. Never...

I don't think he was singing about New Jersey. ;)

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Sun came out, so I went for a walk before it got any hotter - already quite a steam bath! Looks like 3 to 4 inches of rain in my wheelbarrow, which agrees with that map. The creek level is almost up to the banks again but no flooding in my lowlands, the ground was very thirsty! :) Radar doesn't...

    Years Ago Today

I remember it well! Had just moved from one of the old log cabins in Medford Lakes to a home on Atsion Road in Medford. I was lucky, no real damage beyond a wet carpet around the basement door where some water seeped in. But didn't have to go far to see the effects of the flood. I remember...

80-year-old N.J. fire tower surrounded by new $1.25M homes to be torn down

"The 136-foot structure, first built by Jersey Central Power and Light Company in 1944 for a sum of $360" That seems a little hard to believe, $360 in 1944 would only be $6500 today. Lots of steel in a tower, not to mention labor cost. :)

Smokey D. Bear Traveling Artwork Exhibit

Bumping this thread (can't believe a whole year has passed) because I just learned something interesting. You know those ads about Smokey's 80th "birthday"? Turns out, my daughter's ad agency (FCB) made that ad - here's an article and a longer version of the video...

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

They have increased the amount of rain in the forecast. :siren: It's interesting that the area with the heaviest rain is not the same as the area with the greatest projected flood impact. Guess that's due to the greater amount of development in the flood impact area, where more of the ground is...

There's a new briefing available from the National Weather Service here. Looks like the remains of hurricane Beryl might bring us some heavy rain later in the week.

Wet Forest - Formerly Known as Dry Forest

Forecast is 92 today, 91 Tuesday, 91 Wednesday, drops a big three degrees to 88 on Thursday. Big deal. Low point is supposed to be 86 on Friday, then it climbs right back up to 91 by Sunday. Unfortunately, I think we just need to get used to it.
