(A bit off-topic) This got me thinking, somewhere I have a crate full of old maps that includes the paper maps for State Forests and Parks in the Pines, they probably go back 20 to 30 years. Would be an interesting project to georeference them and stitch together into a map for the whole region. :)

You might be right about calling it a tar kiln trail if it's next to tar kilns. :) But the Belleplain trail guide you linked to above is definitely for the tarkiln trail in my first screenshot above. I remember seeing that on the paper Belleplain State Forest maps you could get at the visitor...

Unless I'm not understanding, something is odd there. AFAIK this is the correct location of Tarkiln Bogs (also shown on the USGS 24k topo) and the trail, which is about 5 miles from the link you posted. Your location is in Peaslee WMA and not Belleplain State Forest, which is what that trail...

I also seem to recall a map that the Wharton Superintendent created before 2015, there's probably an old thread buried in the slag heap. :D But seriously, we had a member who was taking GIS courses and wrote about helping him map Wharton. Didn't something grow out of that? I thought the 2015 map...
