We looked for the one closest to Manumuskin over near the wooden bridge and could not find it.I figured it sunk under the mud but it was on the edge of the swamp so if I was off by 30 ft one way it could have been on higher ground but we checked that as well.
I understood right away why Bridgeton was more dense then Millville whilst Millville has about 7000 more people then Bridgeton.Because Millville has much more area/sq mi. then Bridgeton.Bridgeton is a very small area while I think Millville is the fifth largest city in the state acreage...
It is a wire fence smashed down to the ground in some places and half standing in others.Ypu could step over it about anywhere or step on it and smash it down.I found a hole about ten by 8 by 2 ft deep at one spot like maybe someone was trying to dig a grave up? Not shaped like a sunk in grave.I...
I walked in off of First Ave and headed south. The road was walkable to the grave area and then i think the road kinda disappeared. You came in from the other direction so apparently there is an overgrown area in the middle.Did you see the old wire fence?
No wonder your so good with cartography, you took drafting! I was young enough to miss the Draft but I joined up anyway.Never learned to draw though??? Next thing I knew I was driving a 5-ton through Iraq???? Okay back to topic:-)
Hartmans House.I used to live two blocks from here Matter of fact that was in 1970-72 so when I was a kid I actually lived two blocks from the living Hartman! I"m almost a celebrity!
I have the large paper maps as well. They were hand drafted by a man named Hartman (would have to dig them out to get his first name) and they were done in the 1970's. It says this right on the maps.I would have thought they were much older as well. I have also heard the man that made them is no...
I"m not sure . I just went to the NJ tax search site which has been changed recently and most of the lots in that area are not giving owner info.Just lot and block numbers and thats about it.I do see that a few large blocks west of 666 and south of first ave are now owned by the city of Estelle...
Us stone hunters don't have any taxes yet.Shhh! This NJ after all. Stones don't bleed and you don't need any bait for them so their very low maintenance but I must confess trying to eat o e is a terrifying project.
State Forest no it isn't legal.Plainly posted only with permit in designated areas.Mainly on public beaches looking for coins and jewelry. No historically sensitive areas.
.There is no reg posted against it on the WMA signs but being it is state property your probably not allowed to take...
Yep your in the right area Boyd and if you can accurately georeference the Hartman Maps we will have to give you the Nobel Map Prize. They are not accurate as they stand though for hand drawn maps they are top notch. I do believe the new state property probably borders on that diagonal road...
I have been there. It was a trespass then, not sure if it still is.I know the state bought more property out there. All I found was an old wire fence and a few red brick on the trail in off of first ave.and there was a shallow hole about two ft deep and ten feet across where someone had been...
Sometimes this time of year I get a crowded feeling because of so many hunters in the woods but I tells myself that if it weren't for these guys they'd be no woods for me to run around in.Hats off to hunters.
