Yes I had thought it might be a marker of sorts for someones personal history but would not have the slightest idea how to find out what the history is.If the plains were burnt to the ground it would be visible for quite a ways but the rocks do not appear to be cooked which would make them pink...
I remember when I was there thinking it looked limestone which definitely would not be indigenous.Being an old caver I"ve had a bit of experience with limestone.

Me and Bill found that thing maybe 15 years ago and wondered what it was.I gave Bob the coords to it but I don't think He has seen it yet.You went looking for it from my coords or just wandered into it?
I have word from a botanist that this is wild raisin or withe-rod, Viburnum nudum, likely var. nudum (based on plant's height), but possibly V. nudum var. cassinoides (usually taller but would need to see leaf margins and seeds to be sure).
