can you help me find these ruins?

Boyd, I came across your GPS mapping when I was scanning this great website the other night. I was awfully impressed. I've used GPS for years going back to the Garmin II. But I've never learned how to use any non-Garmin maps. I have the 276C now and I've been following the reviews for the...

There wasn't much there back then, just a few shacks in the woods.

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

I read your thread, Guy. It's great. This is a great website. There's so much here. EC , thanks for the map. The track marked "abandoned", that must be the place all right. Has anyone ever heard of that train wreck? I should get on the Google and see if I can find something. What would...

That must be the one with an additional addendum and photos. I only saw it once, when it first came out I think. It must be rare. On Amazon, under reviews, the first one by "A Customer", from 1999, that's me. 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars A...

can you help me find these ruins?

Years ago, when i used to haunt the PB, I used geological survey maps. My last adventure - or rather misadventure! - was about eight years ago, and then I was using my Garmin GPS map which was surprisingly good - and wound up saving me about $20,000, but that's another story!

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

Thanks, Guy, but why would I need to do that? They've just been sitting around for all these years unappreciated. Perhaps, as I mentioned before on another thread, I might just put them on a thread of their own, or along with other old PB photos, so that they'd be more accessible, instead of...

Then and Now.....The Accident of the Blue Comet Train

Forty years ago, Sept. 1971, I came across a train wreck in the Barrens, near the Carranza Memorial. Here's a photo I took of an upended Erie car by the NJ Central tracks.

Undeniable proof of the jersey devil's existence

Turns out he is much friendly in person than the legend would have us believe!! ________ He has always been most cordial to me. But I think you might be confusing the Jersey Devil with the Jersey Water Lilly.

Thanks, Bill. Perhaps I should start a separate thread just for the old photos so they'd be more accessible.

Oswego Lake to Sim Place ... 2009

Neat thread. I used to love to canoe and ik (inflatable kayak) in the Pines. And speaking of Simm Place and No Trespassing signs...I mentioned elsewhere that i have a bunch of photos of the Pines from the 60's and 70's, and even 80's, Simm Place too... I like your tree trespassing...

    Trashing the pines

I'm sorry to hear about all this. It always used to be so clean and peaceful in the barrens back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's, and even into the 90's.

    4 Rattlesnakes Along a Road

Yeah, wow! I have some old photos of snakes I came upon down there way back. I live in the desert out west now. There's supposed to be a lot of rattlesnakes out here, but I actually used to see more in the Barrens and also up in Bear Mtn.-Harriman State Park where I used to go backpacking and...

    Camp Columbus near Bamber Lake

I remember camping out one summer night near Bamber Lake around 1971. I used to camp in the Barrens a lot back then. What I recall most about that night was the loud and raucous sound of frogs croaking. It sounded like Jurassic Park. I don't think you ever hear so many frogs like that anymore.

can you help me find these ruins?

I took this photo in September 1971 - Friendship before it became a ghost town. I remember the sounds of farm animals. I have a lot of photos, mostly color slides, that I took in the Pine Barrens in the 60's and 70's.
