    Jersey Devil Alternate Origin

Actually I know two that love the sauce. But the Philly Quakers of yore were famous for drinking. I'll see if I can find a source to back that claim up, though.

    NYPL "Map Warper"

Looks interesting. I wish the maps were organized better. It seems like you might need to create an account to actually view the maps. Or maybe that's because I tried to view one that wasn't rectified.

    Jersey Devil Alternate Origin

Well, it's interesting to see how much Quaker philosophy has changed in the last 200-someodd years. I'd have figured that Leed's Quaker peers would have been too busy getting drunk to care much about his almanac. :)

NJ's smallest church, deep in the Pine Barrens, is big on faith

Jenkins is smaller than the chapel at Brookville?

    Illegal Dumping Pilot Program

They're going to have to deploy some high megapixel cameras with autofocus and good lenses if they expect to be able to read the tags well.

Gabe, thanks for posting that article. It's a good sounding argument. Interesting, though, to hear how intolerant those Philadelphia Quakers were, considering that many of themselves were victims of religious intolerance up in New England.

    High Crossing never disappoints

RR's have air suspension. It's likely that the driver never raised it up, though. On the road/street they're pretty low.

    High Crossing never disappoints

I can only imagine the sinking feeling (no pun intended) that the driver felt when that thing got stuck. Is this puddle in the No Motorized Vehicles area?

    Controlled Burn Today?

I was hiking in the Parker Preserve this afternoon (3/23) when I smelled fire. I saw some lightly billowing white smoke which I wasn't sure was a fire or not. I could have just been smelling someone's wood burning stove. Anybody know if something was going on south of Chatsworth today?

A Setback for Rails to Trails

Well the question is if the right of way ceased to exist when the trains stopped running. If the ROW still is active then it all depends on the verbiage. If it's open ended enough they could do whatever they want on it.

Windows XP: It's time to say good-bye

Nowadays the browser itself isn't the biggest attack vector (although it's still important.) Most bad things (viruses, spyware, malware, etc.) are coming in via insecure versions of Java and Flash plugins. (This is how Macs and even some Linux machines are getting compromised now.) I definitely...

Updated Forum Software Coming (Spring/Summer '14)

Hello all - Sorry I have been MIA for a while. The company that makes the software that runs the forums here has released a major update. I'm looking to upgrade the site probably sometime before the summer. We're already a release or two out of date. Since this is a major update to their...
