Two Jerks Go Off-Roading and Destroy 5 Acres of Soybeans

http://www.nj.com/monmouth/index.ssf/2013/11/two_men_charged_with_allegedly_destroying_soybean_fields_in_upper_freehold_township.html#incart_river_default First the dumper from Trenton and now these yahoos. It's starting to sound like a good month for environmental enforcement.

Dumping in Pinelands / Crackdown needed

Sadly he's just being charged and not indicted and sentenced yet. I bet a crisp $5 bill that he'll get off with little more than a slap to the wrist.

Forget the book, throw the whole library at him.

Dumping in Pinelands / Crackdown needed

So wait. Someone drove all the way from Mercer County to dump shingles, rather than go to the local dump to get rid of them?

Brookbrae bricks with name and symbol

I wonder if it came from Metropolitan Block company in Canton, OH. See the bottom of this page: http://www.oldworldbricks.com/used-paving-brick/ The stamp doesn't match up, but maybe this was a special order of heat resistant brick and it was stamped differently.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

Well there's probably some Javascript change or bug in Safari on Mavericks. I'm not upgrading any of my Macs until I absolutely have to so you might want to use Firefox for the maps for a while.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

That's what you get for upgrading to Mavericks. :) I'm assuming this is Safari. Does it still work as expected in other browsers? (Also it's not called Live Maps anymore.)

    Brookbrae and Harrisville

Sure, but it drastically increases the value of the property too. It's sort of like a surprise upgrade to a building. :)

    purgatory house?

Well, it's part vandals and part deterioration based on the elements. The state really does very little to stabilize historic structures under its purview. One simply has to look at Atsion for examples of that.

    Brookbrae and Harrisville

To be honest, Belco is well known enough that anybody who wants to find ruins in the Pines just needs to do a simple Google search. I'm also reasonably sure that it's been in an issue of Weird NJ at some point.

    Brookbrae and Harrisville

No - I haven't been there yet. I personally do believe that graffiti can be art. Just look at Bansky, who is a wold famous graffiti artist. My problem with it is when it appears on historic sites.

    purgatory house?

My apologies for this very long winded post, but please humor me and read it through to the end. Looking at your profile, I see that you're in your early 20s. I was around that age when I started this website. Prior to that I had just read about the ghost towns in the Pine Barrens in Henry...

    Brookbrae and Harrisville

It's not, and they are. Harrisville and Brooksbrae are probably the best "intact" ruins in the Pines. What's left of them anyway.

    Hanover Furnace

Here's some pics from when we visited the dig site back in 2005. I can't believe it's been that long. http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/showgallery.php/cat/296

    Confusion at Martha

That and it's also typical for archaeologists to fill in their trenches when they're done. Had the ruins been excavated and then left to the elements - let alone people - the site would decay quickly.

Nice. The database that I was poking in did not have the scanned originals. Thanks for posting it.

Dumping in Pinelands / Crackdown needed

First you need to actually catch and prosecute them. You could raise the fines to $1M and people will still do it. Why? Because they won't get caught.
