    Video Camera

Hi, I am just so tired of seeing the thread title "Steve Jobs Dead"....I am trying to make a more permanent change of subject. Let's move on. Besides, I do want one of these someday....maybe not this one though...

    The new Falklands

I find stories like this fascinating on so many levels. Many issues to be considered in their future. "Can this place survive it?" she asked. "Everything we're saying we're here for - not locking your doors, the freedom, the tranquility - can it survive so much money?"...

    Tree Harvesting Rebuttal

I like it that once in awhile someone with real knowledge calls it the way it really is. She is right; throwing words and phrases around freely are often used to make it sound good. In other words, stop the B.S. http://www.nj.com/times-opinion/index.ssf/2012/02/opinion_timber_harvest_on_nj_p.html

    Why pay more?

There is a good quote in this story. :D http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/23/nyregion/indian-tribes-make-own-cigarettes-to-avoid-ny-tax.html?hp

    Property Values

Nothing is ever perfect when it comes to evaluations, but this site is pretty cool. At least it says I'm not paying too much, so that is cool. http://www.valueappeal.com/propertytax/calculator.aspx

    Now what?

I am bothered in my home by these beetle-like bugs. They are soft, about 3/16" to 1/4" long, narrow, and have black spots on their orange upper half. They fly, but also crawl. They do not bite or sting. I have thrown out a hundred or so already. They like gathering around me for some reason...

    Never Published

A letter to the editor when I found out the guy who owned Southern Ocean County Landfill had been dumping drums and drums of chemicals. Was surfing my old files, thought you migh get a kick out of a rash 30 year old me. "My God! -- What have we done? That should be the expression all NJ...

    Nothing is sacred anymore

Most of you know the little sweetwater run that flows into Webb's Mill Brook. The one that is crossed on the road to bamber, and the one that gentleman had photos of for his movie? Went by there today, and someone went in about 10 yards and chopped down one of the nice cedars that grows right in...

    Hit and Run

If you can believe this news report, then you can wonder why it's not a big sensation that several cars hit her and kept going. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/11/25/person-killed-trying-to-cross-garden-state-parkway/

    From Marsh to Farm

I'm not sure whether this has been posted previously or not, but it's an elegant treatise on a subject that may interest many on this forum. Well researched, easily read, and very interesting. http://www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/nj3/contents.htm

Oh, don't worry...that guy who was beheaded is a couple miles from here. We'll have a great tennis tournament. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/02/21/501364/main20034382.shtml Freaking idiots.

    Corn Snake

I found a beautiful corn snake crossing Lacey Road today. I was surprised with it's spunk. I got it off the road, and I really hope it did not try it again. I did not go back that way, so am not sure if it did. I'm not good at identifying these snakes, and did not have a camera. Colors were...

    Rt 72 RR Bridge

I was out there last week, and it struck me that I never noticed it before, but that bridge was built with the future in mind. It is twice the length it needs to be, the western side was made to accomadate a 4 lane highway. Agreed? I also for the first time noticed the date of construction...

    I'm sorry

But this is the most stupid idea of the year in NJ. Absolutely idiotic. Nothing more than a way to throw money away. http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/communities/lower_capemay/fencing-along-parkway-s-great-egg-harbor-bridges-designed-to/article_c02de796-e968-11e0-b196-001cc4c03286.html

    Non-essentials

The big question for me; how do non-essential "first-responders" end up at the scene of an accident anyway? http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/news/press/atlantic/ocean-county-woman-s-death-spurs-bill-that-would-restrict/article_1fdc9dfa-da9a-11e0-a77f-001cc4c03286.html

    Webster's Second

I had an appointment in another building where I work, and they had a dictionary in a stand....very old...1957 or so. I was pleased to find the genus of many plants inside, which is not easy to find today. Plus, there was something about it that Ireally liked. Just flipping through it was fun...

    Hot Dogs

I like a good hot dog. But, lazy as I am, if I feel adventurous I go for chili and onions. Once in a great while I buy a jar of NY hot dog sauce. Here is a neat slideshow tour of what goes around for a dog in the big apple. Hold the mayo...

    The right way

I tend to be flexible and fair (I think). So I am going to say that I think the Forest Service's policy to brush-hog 12 feet on each side of certain roads for a fire break has turned out to be a suprisingly good thing. It is pleasing to the eye, and if they do enough of them, they won't...
