That's a thought worth considering. I've never heard of that kind of mining. Here's another thought; there is heavy clay on the surface at many spots. Maybe it was that they were after.

Reminds me Ed. I walked up to that beach from the south about 8 years ago or so. Lo and behold, out of the corner of my eye I saw a man that had no....

By the way, this is puzzling. I’m curious to know why this area South of the South Branch is dug in rows like it is. It was done prior to the 1970’s. It's near 150 acres by my calculation. The mounded part is something like 2 feet high, I think? Maybe blueberries?

No, he retired. And it seems he's off the grid too (something we all think of doing).

I should ask Wells Mills park if they'd get rid of it if I dragged it in. I hate it being there.

    Cape May County Explorations

They were eating me alive inland in July. It was awful! It was around mid to late July that I stopped on the roadside by a marsh and swampy woods to eat a sandwich. I still had my high boots on and I rolled up the windows cause the flies were knocking on them. I was dying as my air conditioner...

I was back at Cape May, on a dune in the maritime forest. Fabulous. This must be what it looked like in, say, 1400. Made me feel good inside.

On the embankment of the old RR, I saw what looked to maybe be something they burned in the locomotive? I turned it over, and was curious so snipped a piece to see if it would burn. I was thinking anthracite. I got it to glow red after 20 seconds, but no flame and no smoke. Maybe it has to be...

The ride back there from Well's Mill is always a test. Some gyrations must be done near some of the waterholes. Now they are making very unsightly ditches to drain the road. Some of them go back almost 40 feet.

Here, the South Branch crosses the old Tuckerton RR. It was grating to see that, because the ATV'rs would not or could not go through it when high like this, they had a cedar chopping party. Even left the beer cans there. If you are one of them, pick up the cans when you return.

This was out there the whole time I was nearby, about 3 hours. I only post this in case someone had this stolen. More likely, he had a breakdown issue, as nobody would simply park it where it was.
