    Along The Tulpehocken Today

We had two maliciously set fires in "our" woods this past summer. Both were only 400 yards from our house. One of them came very close to some mature Catalpas that were part of an old homestead that was acquired when Wharton was formed.. I'll take a look at that area over the weekend to see if...

A Traverse of Wharton on the Central Line

Actually, it's currently NJ Transit in the leg passing through Waterford, not NJDOT. Prior to that, it was owned by Conrail for a period of time. When I moved to Waterford in 1983 my brother-in law-worked for Conrail then and was he part of the crew that worked on rebuilding the trestle over the...

A Traverse of Wharton on the Central Line

No need to worry about the State voluntarily fixing any damage that has taken place on the railbeds and crossings. The railroad rights-of-way of which you speak are privately owned by various railroad entities. I'm really tired and I have been drinking a fair amount tonight , so I will...

    Music for the day

This song was a sad and personal story about Merle Haggard's loss of his girlfriend..

    Seafood in the Pines

Lucien's Old Tavern in Berlin. Oh, wait a minute, That was 50 years ago..:( All kidding aside, Ollie Gator's in the shopping center on the old Berlin Circle still has it. It's not bad, but it ain't like what Lucien's used to serve. Locals used to sell the snappers to them at the kitchen door in...

    Jessica's boots

I wonder if there were any apparitions floating away as the soul departed from the shoe?

    Jessica's boots

Are they Lacrosse Guy ? Not that it really matters, because they're all coming from China now. Lacrosse was bought by a Chinese company in 2012. I have a really old pair that I use for wet grass and brush and not to actually submerge in in water. I had those and two different pairs of chest...

    Music for the day

Another classic Al. I love this song. The, "I wish a Ford and the Chevy would still last 10 years like they should" lyrics miss the mark with me though. I still proudly drive my 28-year old 5-speed manual 4x4 F-350 Ford OBS (Old Body Style) and my 23 year-old Ford diesel 6-speed manual 4x4...

    Groundhogs?

Topographic and utility surveying for a a new building. We are working for an architectural firm from Maine. Our second project with them. We did the surveying for the elevated aluminum marsh trail for another outfit back in 2008.

    Groundhogs?

Looks like Fox. However no pad prints in front of it. It could be inactive. Not a very attractive place for a Groundhog. Here's a picture of a foxhole at Forsythe from two weeks ago. It was very active.

The Historical Forks, A PBX Hike

It was a pleasure meeting you too, M1. Thank you for the local persimmons, they were a nice treat. Glad you enjoyed the tailgate too.. Would you believe that before I started coming along in 2005 that they used to just shake hands and go home at the end of a hike? I fixed that in a hurry. :)

Turkey Running Around A Cemetery Stone

It looks like it viewed the reflection as a challenge.. Kind of odd this time of year. Mating and occurs in the spring and males don't usually do dumb stuff this late in the year. I was doing a job in Brooklawn a few years back and a beautiful, huge male saw his reflection in our wheel covers...

The Historical Forks, A PBX Hike

It was a great feeling to get back together with a lot of good friends. The weather was stellar and the skies were perfect for grabbing some beautiful fall shots. Best of all, the tailgate location way back deep in the holler, without an actual tailgate in sight, was priceless.

The Historical Forks, A PBX Hike

I believe beaver activity brought those on. I noticed a lot of old beaver activity in the very beginning of the hike and near the beach area we visited after lunch. The one area, I think where you took that picture, had some fresh beaver activity. Seems like most of them have been trapped out...

A Fine Time For Fine Wine

Looking good Ben! We racked our wine last weekend and I snuck a few sips of each. Good flavors and dizzying alcohol content. Just how I like it!! :)

Amazon to build distribution center at AC Racetrack

On a lighter note, I used to renew this guy's sand mining permit every two years with Pinelands. All that mining was done with just a dragline. He gave me and my buddies free run of the place for several years to bass fish and whack geese. The mined material was low quality, for the most part...
