Valued Friendship, a PBX Winter Hike

But Steve Miller was pronouncing it wrong. :) The true South Jersey pronunciation of the Maurice River is "Morris". And the little town along the river is pronounced Morristown, not Moreeesstown I have argued this with several people over the years. Al, can you back me up on this ?

    Nescochague berry feeder canal

The area where you photographed the boards was privately owned until not too long ago. I believe it was acquired by NJ around the same time that Ace Campground was acquired. The piece with the boards over the canal was huge and was owned by guys that hunted it. They had large shooting shacks in...

    Nescochague berry feeder canal

Great report ! We visited the dam site many years ago with Ben Ruset and exlpored other legs of the canal on a later hike. It was an amazing feat to dig that canal and who knew it would be the basis for early riparian law ?

Valued Friendship, a PBX Winter Hike

Back in late November , Hewey from this site and I were exchanging texts while deer hunting one night and we talked about getting together in the woods for a few holiday beverages and some general jocularity. We both agreed to wait until the hunting slowed down a little and we would then plan a...

    Abandoned geese at Deep Run

Very cruel treatment of domesticated animals. If they don't starve, a fox or coyote will be having them for dinner. The owners should be taken deep into the pines and left to fend for themselves without food or shelter. I would love to see that video.

Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

If anyone has been to Montana you would have noticed the white crosses along the highways marking fatal accident sites. The program was started over 60 years ago by The American Legion and is blessed by the Montana Highway Department. It is a sobering sight on some of the desolate highways. I...

Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

The backdrop in the photo has a few thousand examples of a "pine" tree just in case they need a template. The memorial is a sad reminder of the limited time we all have here on earth. That guy was my age too which really drives it home. May he rest in peace.

Memorial to Gregory Moore at Batona field

Not to be a d#*k but I think the nursery might have hoodwinked the family. If they wanted to purchase a "pine" it appears from the photo that they were sold a common arborvitae. The tree looks like one of the many cultivars of Thuja occidentalis, a non-native to the Pine Barrens.

    What Am This ?

Every time me and my buddy talk about the location he gets me more confused. I will let you know after I have been there.

    What Am This ?

After deer season my friend and I are going back to the spot. I want to get a close look at it myself. He's been hunting the area so we don't want to add any unnecessary disturbance.

    What Am This ?

I thought it was me. I couldn't see "Watts" in my original photo either but I do see "Watts" very clearly in Joe's photo of the washing machine valve. Alright Jerseyman, back to the archives ! :)

    What Am This ?

How did you make that determination Jerseyman ? Did the serial or part number help with that ?

    What Am This ?

A little update. My buddy went back to the area and cleaned up the iron a little and found a serial or part number cast into it. He also found part of a ceramic jug. Perhaps he is stumbling into the remains of some sort of still ??? See photos.

Jeep confirms return of legendary SUV

Coming past Rack's bar in Atco a few minutes ago and a J10 pickup pulled out of the bar onto the Pike next to me. It was cool to see. A friend of mine had one for a woods truck many years ago and it was pretty bulletproof. I remember them having solid axles and with Dana 44's in the front and...
