    NJ Hunting Maps

Good reference Al. Google Earth (downloadable) has those on the aerial view. I wonder if they are exact.

    Where is this?

JohnnyB and Al, you are correct. You know your pine groves.

    Where is this?

That is a good guess, but incorrect. Still, I know that area too, which tells me you love the pine groves too, since they are there as well.

    Where is this?

I usually don't post the difficult ones having only the natural landscape in them, but I thought that if some of you like these open pine groves as much as I do, you'd get this spot with a couple of guesses. If you come within a 1/4 mile radius of this one, that is close enough to tell me you...

    Salem County Stones

Very cool Al. I bet the mud wetness on that cold day was because of the sun the day before. Water is quite stable when it comes to temperature, and the ground soaks up a lot of heat from the sun. Probably that plus the vegetation insulated the ground. Just a theory.

    Salem County Stones

Al, If you look on the aerial for the topography immediately downstream from Maskells Millpond, you see these large fields. Do you know if they are agriculture...and what it is growing there? They have odd shapes and such. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.4778689,-75.402819,2497m/data=!3m1!1e3

The Woods Of Atsion Meadow; a PBX Hike.

Yes, I do believe the Mutha was bigger at breast height. Interesting thought: we only saw a portion of that swamp Saturday. We walked in almost single file. What else is out there? Mutha's Father?

    The cold is coming

I don't see any mention of Sandy in that article.

The Woods Of Atsion Meadow; a PBX Hike.

Al, those 2 photos are different trees. The shot of Chris is the larger one. Here is Chris again with the entire photo.

The Woods Of Atsion Meadow; a PBX Hike.

Guy put together a good one. Nice rolling country back there. We crossed about 4 cedar swamps. Thanks as always for the snacks and spo-de-do Mr. Old man O' the Woods!

Anyone with Knowledge of Animal Tracks?

Kind of reminds me of a skunk.

    Independence day fence lizard

Your shot reminded me of something I saw on the same day I saw the rattler. This one lizard had another one by the forelimb. I thought it was unfair, because the other one could not get away. I stepped forward. The unexpected happened; the one holding the forelimb dragged the other one 15 feet...

    Independence day fence lizard

That is a good shot. Sinister. Reminds me of a rattler I found in a den near Chatsworth in 2014.

PBX guys, I need a way into the bog

Just trying to protect Jon. I know somebody else built those in your photos.

PBX guys, I need a way into the bog

I don't condone cutting trees in a state forest. I never thought that was a smart idea. Look for dead stuff.

PBX guys, I need a way into the bog

Nice Shot Jon. If you need help dragging that board, I'm game. I don't think you are ruining the environment. The board will slowly decay over the years, and people will use it.

PBX guys, I need a way into the bog

Jon, that light yellow is all sedges and leatherleaf, and the slightly gray above it on the first red line will be gum and maple swamp. The yellow areas (even out in the big bogs if yellow) will look like the photo below, and it could be wet due to beaver. I also checked it out on Bing Maps...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

Thank you Boyd and Guy for your response. I'll never forget seeing the 95 aerials the first time way back in 99(?). I was using a 14K phone modem at that time. I was so delighted and amazed by them. I used to spend a lot of time there.
